SCSU Offseason Thread: 1st Frozen Four, Hobey, & MacNaughton but same Red Face

Don't forget about Ben Storm. Not only is he a big tough guy but has some skill as well. If Jensen does return, I will go out on a small limb and say that it will be our best defensive, goalie group ever at SCSU. We might not score quite as much next year, but we wont need to.

I don't think both Storm and Nevalianen come in unless we lose Jensen.
We only lose Johnson so far so we are returning 7 defensemen already.
I don't think we would carry 9.

During the last Motzko show, coach talked as if he was coming in, but who knows time will tell. How about a Storm Rabey pairing!!

You really don't see that much of a drop off for SCSU? They lost Hanowski and LeBlanc. I see them middle of the pack.
I think Dowd can step in to Leblanc's spot and match his production. He isn't as good of a distributor but he is a better goal scorer. And the Benik I saw in the tournament looks he can replace the scoring lost from Hanowski. We had three pretty darn good lines and we are only losing two players of those nine. We have some players that with a bigger role can do more. I think next year's team can be better if Jensen comes back.

Maybe that is wearing cardinal-colored glasses, but when I look at where SCSU finished last year compared to where other teams finished and look at what other teams lost compared to what SCSU lost, I think the Huskies should be considered as the favorites along with the Redhawks.

I am an unrestricted free agent---I'll do most anything for money.

I'm just super excited to see the finished entryway. I may make a special trip up to Cloud this summer just to see it.

LeBlanc plays tonight

Shaky first including being out of position for Edmonton's goal. Looked nervous and slow.

Second period saw him start to settle in.

Third period was outstanding and he had one shift where his line was buzzing for a good 40 seconds. He played chunks of the night between Kane and Sharp.

After that shift, he was double shifted the rest of the night and looked great with scoring opportunities happening all around him via his passing and his linemates trying to set him up. Could tell they wanted him to get his first tonight.

So anyway, after looking shaky, he really turned it on and had a great 3rd period. Overall, a good first game.

Most Hawks fans are excited about him.

Sharp refers to him briefly also.

Leblanc is going to be tough to replace. He made everyone around him better. Hanowski production wise was dissapointing this season. I know he was hurt, but I think other guys like Benik can make up for his lost production.

Thanks for the perspective. Just always seems that UND ends up near the top even when they are expected to be down. I know the veterans of the board (like yourself) have a lot more insight so again, appreciated. I'm hoping this year was the start of something big for this program. From the games I saw this year, this team had/has more skill than just about any SCSU team that I can remember. They seem to have moved up from being a "we have a goalie who is ridiculously good and a couple guys who can score" team to one that a more solid top to bottom team.

Will definitely make it to more games this year and drag my fellow alumni along. Trying to decide between a trip up to the Ralph or one to Omaha this coming year. Haven't been up to UND before but the lure of a Harrah's nearby UNO has me leaning that way. Anyone have some points for either destination? And yes, I know for the UND trip, the hockey is pretty much all there is to go for.

Grand Forks is a fun town. I've done both roadtrips and with the right group of people, I don't think there's a huge difference, and trust me, I really appreciate there being a poker room in Omaha.

I agree, UND shouldn't be written off, but I just don't think they're a favorite in this league next year.

Are you drunk now, or were you drunk then? :p Did you make it to Olive Garden?

Yeah, no kidding! I could not imagine how intoxicated I would have to get to consider Grand Forks as a "fun town." Not to mention, the severity of the hang over that I would have to endure as I try to return to civilization.

The arena is quite impressive though, and their fans do love their hockey. Can't take that away from them.

There really isn't much of a difference between St. Cloud and North Dakota when it comes to fun. both are at their best with a fuzzy memory and greasy food.

I should restate my opinion. I meant to say Grand Forks and St. Cloud. I really cannot think of anything to distinguish one as better. Besides the fact that Val's is better than the Red Pepper.

According to Hatten, Dowd and Gravel have reaffirmed they are returning.
So I doubt it.
Good luck to Jensen.
Sounds like he may join Grand Rapids for the playoffs after finals.
