Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Ballard= typical whiny cheap poor sportsman gopher player.

It's like this, when we started, we had that thing going, and then everything changed, but not so much that it was noticeable. Then later on, we realized what we were talking about, and it wasn't what we thought. That made us step back and exclaim: "Holy Llama!"

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

I don't wanna see him... ever. If Hardy's in a real game, that means either both of our top 2 are hurt, or one is hurt and the other just got shellacked! I understand your appreciation for a walk-on, but a walk-on skater is different from a goalie, especially at SCSU where they couldn't offer any "real" WCHA caliber goalies a spot because they knew they'd be the 3rd with 2 guys already established ahead of him. And I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Hardy wasn't a walk-on, he was recruited, but they said, "Hey, you'll never play meaningful minutes, you'll only dress as an emergency backup due to injuries, we're mostly just using you as a practice goalie, but you'll be able to say you played in the WCHA."

I'm with you, I don't want to see him either. There is a reason he's the 3rd string goalie.

I'm predicting that after this weekend you'll all be saying "Dunn who?" because Lee is going to win both, with 1 shutout. :D

That makes no sense.

Well im with you on not really wanting to see him, a lot of goalies in the league would be a 3rd string goalie on our team.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Hardy was offered scholarships by some schools our east but he wanted to play here.

I didn't know that, thank you.:)

I agree there are two better goalies, they should be playing ahead of him and I dont want Lee or Dunn injured either. He may be a 3rd string goalie, that doesn't mean he isn't WCHA caliber and doesn't deserve to be there because of it. And who is to say that given the opportunity he couldn't put up big numbers. He may not be as good but he could be, obviously good enough to be offered scholarships elsewhere, otherwise he wouldn't be there. (Spare the lesser schools argument, if indeed they were such) He just needs the opportunity. I often get the feeling that people think theres a huge drop off there, when often there isnt. Yeah they often come in shaky or are inconsistent for the very very limited time they see, but you would too. Not to mention we often have the same arguments (give him time, it was only one game, a little rusty, yada, yada, yada) about the top guys and are more forgiving of them as well. But again, i agree with you and pulling a healthy one for hardy is no reason to start him.

I thought you were a Kansas fan.

Yikes, busted. Husker football has been in my blood longer than anything. But as a former basketball player and fan KU is my basketball team. I know, I know.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think he would've gotten offers from any other WCHA school. So, I'll throw this out there because I'm sure someone here must know, who were these Eastern schools that offered him scholarships? I mean, its not like Mankato this year, or CC until Stremmel left, or MTU where they can play 3 goalies. I know that there are some 3rd goalies who should get ice time, but we have a hard enough time getting our top 2 goalies as much ice time as we can, I really don't think we should roll the dice and see what Nate Hardy offers.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Where's the schedule for Benik's team? The Husky hockey welcoming committee wants to plan a trip to his home rink.

Not a lot of those games I'd particularly wanna see, but Benilde or Totino Grace would be a good watch.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

It is the high school in New Brighton.
I wonder why you'd know that? ;)

Irondale's not a good team, but they are a good team to watch. They have the biggest hockey player in the state... Jimmy Gjere. He's 6'7"/270 and is committed to the goofers for football... offensive line.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Let's get this guy going again.

I was thinking about recruits and transfers today. Is it common in college hockey for players to transfer? I mean, i know of the few we have had come in and go from SCSU (Bobby and Jase being the biggest names). But i was thinking more along the lines of a Bobby, Lasch or Roe caliber name leaving because they don't like the program so much anymore, the coach or their playing time and not because they are kicked off the team. O'Brien comes to mind but he wasn't the level i was thinking.

Maybe I just follow more college basketball teams more often than hockey but that's where the though came from. Anyone have any input?

Uh huh. Uh huh. Okay. Um, can you repeat the part of the stuff where you said all about the...things?

Not 100% sure I understood what your question was, but no, big names don't transfer. And almost always teams either transfer to a smaller name school, or from a school to another that's about as big. Jacob Cepis transferring from Bowling Green to Minnesota is pretty f-in' rare.

You are correct it is rare. top line players don't want to sit out a year and the teams that drafted them don't want to wait another year to get them.....

Anybody see any good high school games this weekend? I didn't get a chance to get out, but I know there was some games.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Anybody hear how Dunn is? Coach Motzko said Monday after the radio show that they wouldn't really know until Wednesday.

Of course, rookie phenom and Rookie of the Week Mike Lee is rested and ready to stone the Tigers twice this weekend!!
