As opposed to Grassley and Hatch asking the questions? This whole spectacle was designed to get Dr. Ford to bail on actually showing up for the hearing. Once she committed they were in Save A ss mode, and in that scramble this is the best they can come with. In their defense the average age of the men on the GOP side is like 95 so they're probably not very good at thinking on their feet at this point.

They could have asked nice respectful questions and been done with it. Instead this looks every time she is questioning her like an interrogation and cross examination. A cross examination without any investigation.

Agreed. I get they wanted a woman asking the questions so they didnt look like a bunch of brow beating old men but the prosecutor is hamstrung by the 5 minute rule. And the unintended consequence is that every time she gets Ford to talk for a few minutes and might get some information that she can use to impeach the witness the time runs out and a Dem gets to then talk for 5 minutes about everything they want and Ford can relax and get her wits about her. Optics for her are much better.

Mind you I dont feel bad for the GOP just interesting they would tie their hands behind their back in such a way.

Are we talking about the same Grassley and Hatch here? I'm talking about the two ancient knuckledraggers in the Senate who would approve Adolf Hitler to the SCOTUS if they thought he'd favor corporations in his rulings.

Yes. If they want to impeach her credibility they need more emotion behind it even if they will look bad. She is not some drug pusher or 16 year old date rapist she is too strong to not be able to handle 5 minutes of random questions.

I agree with what you are saying. That being said I think any human can be nice if they try hard enough.

Plus Grassley can barely speak how would he attack her ;)

CNN has the author of an upcoming Roberts biography on and she is saying that Roberts is worried about how this will taint the Court and how Roberts knows the DC party scene.

The analysis on MSNBC by there two female prosecutor pundits is that the Republicans prosecutor is helping Ford more than the Republicans.

We need a mandatory retirement age for elected and appointed officials.

So, here's my take so far on whether or not Kavanaugh did it.

In all the cases of mistaken identity I have ever heard the accuser did not know the accused. Eye witness testimony in those cases are as I understand it fraught with peril.

The key testimony this morning? She knew him before the attack.

CNN is saying similar that the more she gets questioned the more credible she looks. They also read either a tweet or email from a Republican close to the committee and they are freaking out thinking it might be slipping away.

Also reporting Senate staffers and Senators themselves are crying/getting emotional.

Collins and Murkowski wont survive confirming him IMHO.

Grassley has been all but drooling on himself this entire hearing. Senate. Term. Limits. It's time.

Yep great point. He wasnt "random DC D-bag #5" he was someone she knew.

Honestly, what is killing the prosecutor is that every time Ford misspeaks or or thinks she needs to clarify Ford does it right away. The Prosecutor wants to be able to jump on that, to find holes and attack them. Ford does it before she has a chance to and then boom...5 minutes up. It is very interesting to watch.

Nicole Wallace is saying that what happened this morning was the worst case scenario for Brett Kavanaugh.
