Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

This has been around for a week or so now but it's one of my faves.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">US Rep. Kevin Cramer on Kavanaugh allegations: “Even if it’s all true ... does it disqualify him from the Supreme Court?” <a href="https://t.co/R8HjCctZ5N">https://t.co/R8HjCctZ5N</a></p>— NBC Politics (@NBCPolitics) <a href="https://twitter.com/NBCPolitics/status/1044629282415349761?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 25, 2018</a></blockquote>

If they happened, there is a boldfaced lie on the record merely days old and attributable to your candidate. Impeachable offense for some but mere fluff for others?

When does defending this man become a bridge too far? The list of idiots who came out and defended Kavanaugh and ripped everyone on the left for a "rush to judgement" all have egg on their face.

Good luck cleaning it off.

His support amongst GOP women is plummeting.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

That's when America was great. And Trump's going to bring us back there.

Dump poisonous shyat into the air, rivers and lakes, make n ggers sit in the back and drink at a different fountain, keep women in their place at work and in the home, and keep all nonwhites and women the he!! out of government.

Disclaimer: The 50s and early 60s was an idyllic time for me. I was a white male living in picket fence America with other white middle class people. But I don't want to hang onto or return to that time and place so isolated from the suffering of others.

This guy needs to die already since he won’t retire

“GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch wants the Senate to move forward with confirming Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh without having to "put up with" allegations that he was present during a gang-rape at a party”

Yeah, but Franken was a Democrat. Democrat's always back down.

Repubs fight to the end, fight nasty, and unfairly. But they fight.

Actually the fact that Franken stepped down is giving the Dems cover to go after Kavanaugh. Were he still in the Senate you'd be hearing his name mentioned like 9 bazillion times by now by knuckledraggers. Instead nary a peep or false equivalency to be seen because Franken did the right thing.

He's stepping down. Romney will be his replacement. Probably a step in the right direction but a step not far enough.

Grassley and Hatch are very similar. Although, Grassley being from Iowa was at one time a little more centrist than the Utah Hatch. However, that has changed since the Republicans have become a hive mind.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Orrin Hatch is the best argument there is for mandatory Senate retirement at 80, and/or a ban on serving more than two consecutive Senate terms.

Yes, and with SC Justices living longer and serving longer and being appointed at younger ages for obvious political reasons (though I don't have citations to those factual claims), limited terms is beginning to make more sense for them as well. Giving them tenure to isolate them from political pressure is a good idea, and it might help preserve stare decisis, but the stakes have gotten so high with the length of time Justices are expected to serve, we have a grossly overpoliticized process as things are.

Be interested to hear uno's view.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Interesting.

Kavanaugh's lawyer says that Avenatti should have went to the police. When pressed about why her client doesn't press for an FBI investigation her answer appears to be "crickets".

It's an interesting tact they're taking.

Should Ford and Avenatti have gone to the police first? Why or why not? Maybe they don't want a big police investigation, but maybe they just didn't want to sit back and watch this man become a Supreme knowing what he did?

Hard to say.
