I'm taking an hour off today to hear a seminar on thorium reactors. Pretty cool since I'm not sure my company is involved in them, yet, but it's great that they sponsor these events.

Very cool. We need to progress in that area. Coal should be dead.

3.5M :: 1 ratio for energy efficiency between Thorium and Coal. Very nice.

Also, there's no Thorium in the Middle East.

The guy talked about this. I hated, hated, hated this assertation. I don't care what the energy density is. And I don't know what energy efficiency is as it relates to the raw material.

Energy density is meaningless if it can be harvested and utilized cleanly and it doesn't produce harmful wastes.

I should also add, this whole talk left me feeling interested in the technology but very suspicious about his motives and the future of the concept.

He glossed over the drawbacks and dodged the questions about them.
