Re: Science: Everything explained by PV=nRT, F=ma=Gm(1)•m(2)/r^2

So what percentage of Mississippi's overall health problems are caused by things like smoking, alcohol consumption, diet and sedentary lifestyle and are unaffected by vaccinations? For all this article tells us, Mississippi could have more success than any other state in fighting diseases that can be prevented by vaccination.

Did you read the article? I don't think Col. Flaggy did either.

They're saying that despite everything you know about MS, that justices there decided that the 14th Amendment states that an individual parent cannot make a decision that could impact the rest of the children in a particular locality by way of not vaccinating a child and expecting him/her to attend public school. The article goes on to say that more states should follow MS's example, and require vaccination as a requirement of attending publicly financed schools.

Being fat, lazy, and stupid just happens to trump the very few other healthy decisions to have come from that state.

Yeah I read it, and I know what it said regarding the rationale. flaggy appears to have cited it for what was implied regarding the vax/disease nexus, which is not addressed.

Not having a strong opinion on the matter...as that would require more knowledge on the societal and disease mutation impacts of regularly immunizing tens millions of children.

Regardless that policy is very socialist of MS.

What "disease mutation impacts" do vaccines have?

He’s sounds like a vaxxer. The correct answer doesn’t require any such knowledge. All it requires is a basic understanding of why we vaccinate children. Which is easily found in any reference on pandemics and epidemics.

Oh fun, another vaccine discussion. And to think I almost missed it.

Not really a discussion. Google "disease mutation impacts" and vaccines and let me know what you find*. I suspect it is a term he pulled out of his *** but I was giving him a chance to elaborate should he want to.

*He is likely confusing qualities of antibiotics and vaccines. The evolutionary pressures on viruses, bacteria are worlds apart between the two when you take a broad view. Also considering the many types of vaccines, many types of animal reservoirs, etc one would have to be very specific to have anything resembling an informed discussion on the matter.

Thanks but I think I'll pass on doing homework for a message board. :p

What are you talking about?

Only comment made was 'I don't know' if there's any sort of impact - while making an entirely different point.

And all I was pointing out is you were asking about more knowledge about a term that you made up and is not used in the medical literature.

I have decided to move on...

Trump is announcing a 30% tariff on solar panels. And this of course is bad for alternatives. Its bad for the entire industry supporting solar (panels make up a small percentage of the total ecosystem) and its bad for the US as it is an instant price increase for consumers. Trade barriers also increase inflationary pressures and will likely result in counter tariffs that will hurt other US industries. Part of the dark side of populism the Donald.

UPDATE: An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.9 occurred 175 miles off the southeast coast of Kodiak, Alaska, prompting tsunami warnings and watches. Initially, the magnitude was reported as 8.2.

Is his rationale that it will increase domestic production of those products?

It may be, but the issue with our companies being behind is sourced to the Chinese government supporting solar and ours did not. Worse is that don decided that he doesn't believe in global warming, thus cutting even more support to solar companies that develop solar panels.

So it's not as if it's a logical course of thought to do this- it was far more reactionary. Could even be that someone does not want solar power in the US, so now it's more difficult to get. This kind of policy can be seen in many state's solar generation policy, even in states where solar makes a HUGE amount of sense in many ways.

I have no doubt his administration will fight the battle for the fossil fuel industry. And you are right, we should be aggressively promoting the use solar energy, as Obama did.

Especially in places where there IS an abundance of sun, and using the solar power to cool homes during the heat of the day is actually very smart- most of the south, especially Florida and the islands; the desert west, and much of California.

Heck, we should be helping the islands get to solar power that are just in the Caribbean, since it makes sense to decentralize the power generation (storm risks) AND there is a lot of sun without a lot of angle.

Think about this- how many flat roof homes are in Florida and Puerto Rico- why doesn't someone "lease" rooftops to put flush panels up there? You don't need huge solar farms when you have structures already in place that you can't see the roof.

That's so obvious to me, yet nobody even bothers trying.
