Re: Saturday Scores, Complaints, Updates, Rowdy Crowd, and MIAC Showdown #2

ANDREW MATHER....From Selleck and Fox

I stink! Thanks for the correction Solly. Fox's first name is Justin - my bad.

It is official - Lakers win 5-3! Road to the SUNY auto bid is NY 104, as Oswego clinches first place in SUNYAC!

Short recap on this game (since I was there).

Salem seemed to control the play most of the game, as they were able to hold Fitchburg (who entered tonight 4th in the nation in scoring offense) to only a few chances. Maybe the Falcons weren't at the top of their game tonight, as they weren't able to really challenge Sam Avoine in net, but Salem's defense really played tough. Bobby Leiser did all that he could, making some incredible saves (especially in the third). But the bottom line is, Salem played great all around hockey, and earned the win.

Salem improves to 10-8-3 on the season, and will get a non-conference inter-divisional game against the surprisingly good St. Anselm Hawks on Tuesday. Fitchburg falls to 15/16-4-1, and will continue their homestand against Westfield State on Thursday.

Oh, by the way. I made sure that the announcers (<strike>and the official scorer</strike>) knew that Sam Avoine (and not James LaCour) was in net for Salem. Last thing we need is more people calling the wrong name (related note: I met James at the game. He's a really great guy).

Forget what I said about the official scorer, they screwed it up. And I told them that Avoine was the right guy (they even wrote in Avoine on the official scoresheet. I know, I saw it). How did they pull that off? I sent an e-mail to the FSC SID to correct that. If that doesn't work, feel free to send that angry email Joe.

Looks like a great game at Hamline, as Gustavus leads 4-3 with about 6 minutes left in the game.

Check that, Hamline just scored, 4-4

Sounds like no Potsdam webcast for the second night in a row despite the schedule saying it was supposed to be a webcast. Wonder what happened...

Not sure why you had problems with the webcast, when TW3 in Albany was showing live video of the Buff State @ Potsdam. game

The webcast was the radio broadcast from the local station, WPDM. It had nothing to do with the fact that the game was also being broadcasted on local cable TV.

Not sure I would describe Albany as "local" for a Potsdam game, but point taken :p

It's hard to blame FSC, when Salem State puts this up on their web page:
Terreri increased the lead to 4-2 with his seventh goal of the season three minutes into the third period on assists by Dan Smolinsky and San Cannata. Goalie James Lacour returned in net and made that lead stand up as he turned away 24 shots to pick up his sixth win.

Somebody needs to slap the SSC SID department silly.

Yeah, I e-mailed the FSC SID; and he told me that the SSC SID said that James made his return to action (he didn't, and we all know it).

I don't know what else I can say. I did what I could. James is a really nice guy, I hope this doesn't ruin his chances at a medical redshirt.
