Saturday 12/10/11 -- After an upsetting Friday, let's see who rises to the occasion!!

Re: Saturday 12/10/11 -- After an upsetting Friday, let's see who rises to the occasi

Emery got the message, and it made a huge difference the way the NU/Platty rematch worked out.

If my team gets beat straight up, I can live with it. If I lose to some silly, boring system, that makes me ever so cross.

PFFFFTTTT

The opinion poll had 'wego 2 and Elmira in 6th(?). The computer had something different due to EC's SoS

and the computer will show something different after this weekend...

Unfortunately Oswego fans better get used to the trap because the Lakers have shown they cannot adjust to it and they play right into it. Teams know they can at least keep up with them and even beat them by employing the trap so I would expect to see it a lot more.

Darn you beat me to that thought. We have seen it quite a few times already. It makes for a slow and uneventful game, but it is a good strategy for the opposing teams that don't have the talent to beat us. Same thing happens in a way in basketball with these cupcake teams Syracuse plays (ie Marshall this year). Also the other teams seem to be trying their best to get into the heads of our players with their jawing and bumps after the whistle. It worked in the Mo'ville game, but tonight I was impressed that most of the Lakers didn't let the Statesmen get to them.

I was also impressed to see that nobody really complained about the lack of calls in the 3rd period. You just got to keep skating and overcome the bad calls and the McConney goal was a testament to that as it came not too long after the goal that was waved off. By the way did anyone else think that Boots was completely lost out there? He has never done much on defense but today he was very bad on both ends. The passing in the neutral zone takes the cake for the worst part of the Lakers game tonight. They were trying to make too many "cute" passes and that blew up in their faces.

I actually thought Boots played his normal game of being shelvish on offense and doing nothing on Defense and was the first in the box for the lakers. It seemed that the only line that showed up to play was the Whitelaw line. I saw 3 nice surprises this game. First this was a great game for Oswego. Give Hobart a lot of credit for making Oswego look like a regular team out there. They look very unorganized. Second I thought Badham play a nice steady game. Third was seeing the Freshman Gertsakis on D. He didn't do anything bad on either end of the ice and played his position very solidly. Hare really didn't have to make any great saves and the one goal that he gave up looked like a redirect and had no chance.
A great first half the the season for the Lakers. It will be nice to see the same for the second half.

Utica classless for the evening. 10-0 over Salve Regina.

Classless? Ya sure about that one? Besides the obvious that we had an event that was for charity, we apologize late in the third that we're good and Salve Regina played like a NJCAA team out there...The game was more competitive than you think out there regardless of the score. If Oswego or any of those schools like Adrian got that far ahead, doubt you would be saying the same about them. It was competative and we out played and won. Classless is not the word.

You need to understand - It's board humor that whenever one team wins by double digits the word "classless" is tossed around. It's been that way since RIT would not only win by double digits, but pile it on the opponents. Since that time, it is traditional to say that. It would be exceptional not to note it.

Neumann was threatening with the 1 SOG in the second.

You got that right, the pressure shows - RIT took 5 penalties to Neumann's 2!

I always loved that Oz sent RIT to DI with their tail between their legs with a weekend sweep the last year of the series.

RIT's final game in D-III was at the Aud in Utica with a loss to Manhattanville in the ECAC-W semifinals.

I always thought they played Oswego the first year of RIT being in DI and the Lakers swept them.

Re: Saturday 12/10/11 -- After an upsetting Friday, let's see who rises to the occasi

Yes and no

The 2005-2006 season RIT was DI, but still played 3 DIII games.
12/9 GENESEO: W 6-1
1/14 OSWEGO: L 2-4
1/17 FREDONIA: W 5-3

Thier last year as a full DIII Mens Ice Hockey team was in 2004-2005 where they lost 2-6 to Manhatanville at the Aud in Utica

Their last NCAA apperance was a 2 game tie, mini game loss to Plattsburgh at RIT in 2001-2002, and we all know what happened the year before....

OK, but we really didn't care about RIT (men's team) after the 04-05 season. :p (And that was all their fault!)
