Saturday 1/29/11 - a new Leis on my BMW? Oh Claire, there's a Knight at the door!

Re: Saturday 1/29/11 - a new Leis on my BMW? Oh Claire, there's a Knight at the door

Alright, I'll respond to this now that I've had a chance to sleep on it. First of all, what does Plattsburgh only scoring on the PP have to do with the refs possibly handing over the game to Oz? I can see how it could be if each one of those calls had not been a legitimate and dumb penalty. Despite the win, I'm sure a few of those boys in green and gold will be getting quite an earful at their next practice, if they haven't already. The Cards played an effective powerplay, and took advantage of the opportunities the Lakers were giving them. Are you going to tell me that if the final had been 3-2 you would have complained that the refs played too much of a role in the result? No, of course you wouldn't, because the Cardinals would have beaten you in a legitimate part of the game.

However, having had time to sleep on it, I would like to take this opportunity to amend my previous comment. The refs did not "absolutely hand the game" to Oswego, but a couple blown calls did significantly contribute to the result. I'm talking about 2 specific calls here.

First, there was Whitelaw's goal in the 3rd. How in the world can a referee call that a goal when he was not in a good position to see it, the goal light never came on, AND the goal judge was sitting there shaking his head and saying "no" the whole time? This "goal" gave the Lakers some momentum going forward. Who knows if Craig would have taken the penalty or Moodie would have scored at that point if this goal hadn't influenced the momentum of the game. If those things still did happen, fine. It's a tie game at that point, not a laker lead.

Second, Docking's 5 for CTH. Even the oswego fans here have been saying that should have been a 2. I'm not going to argue it wasn't a penalty, it was. But to guarantee that a team that is trailing in part because they blew a call on the goal will play the remaineder of the game with only 5 on the ice, instead of 6, is atrocious. I don't even care if the too-many-men was a makeup call. You can't tell me that the fact that Platty had a guy in the box for the remainder of the game no matter what was a significant confidence boot to the Lakers, especially the defense and Beckwith.

All that said, the Cardinals had plenty of opportunity to tie it up, right the wrongs that had been done to them. And they certainly tried 100% all game long. But in the end, they fell just short. It wouldn't be fair to the Lakers topeg this ALL on the refs. They executed their game plan and kept the puck out of the net 5x5. (Well, not really. Emery's in the Press Republican saying that the tape shows the Clarke no-goal as being a legitimate goal... but I won't get into that) It's sad that, the way these polls work, Plattsburgh will drop like a rock this week and Oswego might gain some ground by beating the then-#7, when these two teams were so obviously not that far apart. I look forward to a rematch or 2 in March.

ok ok you had some Tappas and now we can get on with it........bottom line it was a good game with bad penalties taken all over the place, either bad because the players on BOTh teams should know better when to take penalties, not in your offensive zone OR the refs got nervous things would get out of hand.the 5 at the end of the game was questionable lets say a 2 for sure or maybe 2 and 2, I think it was because A he hit'em in the head and B he left his feet.....believe me I would have rather seen the end of the game played even -up for sure...like I told Loudhorns we will meet again I would imagine in OZ, at least I hope so as I would give ma an excuse to go to Oz for the weekend, got to get out of NYC once in-a while....buenos dias and stick around to run with the bulls in Pamplona its AWESOME.......if ya dont want to run the week long party is a blast

Due to video issues, I was not able to watch the game, but it sounded like a great game. But it is over, done, finito. Let us move on to the games of this week. Otherwise to quote the wise Stachel Paige, "Never look back. Someone might be gaining on you."

It was a great game. Both teams had some very bad calls. Game coulda went either way. I believe in karma, if platty is fortunate enough to meet Oswego in the Finials, 3rd time might be a charm for platts.

The Oswego 3rd goal was a legitimate goal. I still have video of the goal. The Plattsburgh goalie was pushed into the net with the puck by his own man. The net did not go off before the puck was clearly over the line.

I would like the video of the Clarke goal as the video I have from the same angle of the Oswego goal does not have that puck going in. It clearly went along (not across) the goal line before hitting the post and bouncing out. Emery sounds like a coach trying to defend his job?

If you have video of that goal going in then please post it on here because I am willing to bet there are a number of people that would like to see that. The ref was in the worst possible position to make that call, the goal light never came on and the goal judge disagreed with the ref, and me I sat in the second row 6 seats to the left of the Plattsburgh bench and I was looking right at the front of the net and I didn't even see it go in. So if you could please post it see we could all see this and that would put an end to one of the calls EVERYBODY is talking about.

Trust me, that puck was in the net. the goal judge disagreed with the ref because he was not able to see the puck because of Josh Leis being pushed back into the net.

Agree completely and we move on. Keep the Faith.

Just for your information, I watched a frame by frame picture of the Clarke goal and it CLEARLY shows the puck inside the post. Emery does not need to ever defend his job nor this goal! Enough said.

Someone feel like throwing it up online?

Let's see it..... I had a clear view live in real time....my biased eyes saw no goal - would love to know if I need glasses....

So we must assume several things, you saw the frame by frame from down the goal line or above the net, the puck did TOTALLY cross the goal line (inside the goal line post is not a goal) hit something in the net and bounced out and since it did hit the inside of the goal line post it stayed in the net and the puck that was in the goal crease was a "drop puck" left there by one of the Lakers to confuse the refs. Either way it doesn't matter, the game is over move on.

I saw the pictures, it was a good goal. I know it doesn't change the outcome of the game and I'm not trying to imply that either. Just saying, I did not know for sure before until it was shown to me. Believe what you want, I don't care but it was for real, no question. Strictly for info. purposes anyway.
