RPI @ Yale, Saturday, 1/30/16

Re: RPI @ Yale, Saturday, 1/30/16

We played for 30 minutes this weekend. Lucky to come out with 2 points. Put this in the books and burn it. On to next week.

We came out flat and never recovered. But I have to give Yale a lot of credit, they played a great game.
Big weekend coming up at HFH.

Yup. I had said before the weekend I would be satisfied with a win at Brown and a tie at Yale. I still felt that way even after yesterday. So we lost a chance. We move on and sweep next week and the excitement will be back

If it wasn't for the autobid for WCHA and AHA, the ECAC would have 6 teams in

Re: RPI @ Yale, Saturday, 1/30/16

At least there was some good news in PWR. SLU beat Cornell in OT, Union tied Brown 2-2, and of course the Gopher loss earlier.

Re: RPI @ Yale, Saturday, 1/30/16

They did and we are

Because I know you like to be current concerning the PWR status: As of Sunday morning we are #14. We will stay there regardless of the results of the three games today. Today's game of interest is Minnesota State vs. Minnesota. We want State to win as Minnesota winning would put them scant points behind us in RPI. Should Minnesota win today, a Harvard loss tomorrow would knock us down to #15.

Thanks DR72. normally I do not care about PWR because we are down in the 20's and 30's. But with only a short schedule remaining I am trying to get a better handle on it. I had been looking at just trying to be in the top 16 but i have learned you need to be in the top 14 because of these autobids. (not that I agree totally with giving an autobid to a conference winner or even the winner of that conference's championship if the top teams in that conference would not even be close to competing in the other 4 conferences-but that is another argument)

Actually, only top 10 is "safe". Remember that the autobid goes to the winner of the conference tournament, and there is no guarantee that one of the top 14 teams will win the conference tournament. We just assume that they will for ease of bracketology, and in most years, at least some of the autobids go to teams already in that top area.
