RPI vs. WMU, Shillelagh Tournament, 12/27/15

Re: RPI vs. WMU, Shillelagh Tournament, 12/27/15

Doc, over the years, I have been frustrated by the teams lack of ability to get the puck out of our own zone. Going as far as a foot or two from the blue line with an easy clear, only to bring it back into our zone. Just get it out.
We alos could not win a face off to save our lives in the third period. That kept the puck in constantly.

RPI wins 4-1
Hackett remains undefeated. Will Kazdorf ever get back in net.
Throughout this streak, we have not played for a full 60 minutes in most of the games. And we have not played smart hockey in any of them.
How good could this team be if they ever put it all together. I would love to see that.

If we can win 4-1 making as many defensive judgement errors, then imagine how well we could do if our defensemen put it all together? A win i s nice but Cam had to wade through too many screened shots in the last 30 minutes and we had so many chances to clear the zone and just did not. i felt from the first minutes that we matched up super well against his team. We were just faster and crisper and they tried to play a wide open skating game with us but could not handle the speed on at least 2 of our lines. Tomorrow against either team we may well see a different style of tight checking and hopefully SA can get this team ready for that.

I will be watching the late game today. i would hope our boys and the coach are in the stands sizing up the opponent for tomorrow.

Re: RPI vs. WMU, Shillelagh Tournament, 12/27/15

That was sweet. WMU was never a threat.

We did not have our best game and yet, this one should have been a 4-0 shutout. As per usual, we got called for an extra penalty or two and about 5 extra minutes of playing short handed. We will need all 6 defensemen to play better tomorrow. The scoresheet does not tell the entire story since most of their mistkes and errors in judgement did not result in anything other than some close in chances and Cam was just so solid. this was a welcome relief from all the nail biters during the undefeated streak.

Re: RPI vs. WMU, Shillelagh Tournament, 12/27/15

For those who couldn't tell by now, yes, I was at the game.

The Öhrwall major was a clear hit from behind and was very deservedly a major. Aside from an interference or two, and thinking one of the trips should have been a penalty shot because our player clearly broke free, I can't really complain about the officiating, as it was called quite well.

For the 234582739457th time, STOP CLEARING THE PUCK IN FRONT OF YOUR OWN NET!!!!! Today's game showed one of the big reasons why you don't do that, and the Harvard-ND game showed one of the others. I know you have to shake it off and continue to play your game, but I hope after the game, Hackett ripped Reno a new one for doing that, as it directly cost him a shutout.

Finally, the staff at Compton is some of the nicest I've ever seen. Have to give kudos to them. :)

Did they announce the attendance? Looks like about 100 in the house

Attendance was announced at over 5000 during the second game. Keep in mind, though, that not only is that based upon tickets sold, but also includes fans that only attended one of the two games, as one ticket permits you to attend both games on the day.
