RPI vs Union (Tournament Championship)

engineerhockeyfan

PUCKMAN RULES!!!
It amazes me that when we play teams like Army and Bentley that I can never get on early enough to start the thread, but put up a questionable opponent, and the way is always clear.

I look for victory tonight at the Field House, as these guys have shown that they can win the games they are supposed to win.
And this being the RPI tounament, they are supposed to win.

LETS GO RED!!!!!!!!!!

Re: RPI vs Union (Tournament Championship)

Hitting the road early this afternoon to get back to Troy for tonight's game. Hopefully some of the students will do the same and we'll have a good crowd at HFH tonight.

Very nice to have the video feed last night, but definitely looking forward to seeing tonight live. If both teams play like they usually do against each other it should be a good one.

Let's go red!

Re: RPI vs Union (Tournament Championship)

8am? Wow, if I'd been awake any earlier I would have added my magic touch.

Re: RPI vs Union (Tournament Championship)

Any news on the injury front? We need all hands on deck for this one. Union seems to take these games very seriously and I am sure did not like losing to us at home this year already.

Re: RPI vs Union (Tournament Championship)

RPI TV is back with full coverage of today's festivities!

We'll be streaming both of today's games on Ustream here:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/rpi-tv-channel-6-stream---live-football-and-hockey

Broadcast start times are 3:53 PM and 6:50 PM. We may also stream RPI's warmup at about 6:20 PM.

We'll actually be on wired ethernet this time, so expect the stream to be a lot less laggy and have higher quality. Also, I think I've finally figured out how to run the scoreboard program =).

I'm working right now on getting yesterday's games transcoded. RPI vs Bentley will be up in about 3-4 hours, LSSU vs Union will be up by Monday.

They'll both be available here:

Doc, Ed Weaver in today's Troy Record reports that Allan York injured his shoulder during Wednesday's practice. No additional details.

Re: RPI vs Union (Tournament Championship)

From Ken Schott http://www.dailygazette.com/weblogs/schott/2009/nov/28/union-rpi-pregame-report/

York back. Lee out. Rabbani skating with 15 and 21. Still no Bergin.

The situation with Bergin is indeed disturbing. Concussions are sometimes extremely difficult to quantify. What originally can seem like a minor Grade I can later turn out to be far more than that with late symptoms appearing. I wish him well and a speedy recovery to full strength. Add-good to see Burgdoerfer back in and not seriously injured yesterday after leaving the bentley game.

That injury report is conflicting with what the buzz was around HFH yesterday. All taken with a grain of salt because who knows what's right.

I wonder what happened to Union to cause all of the team suspensions.

I guess their offense won't be worse than yesterday. :)

I saw the list of those sitting out-sounds like their entire offense is gone. We have to play them as if they are all there though-everyone they suit up will be giving all they got.

This may seem a silly question, but generally what are "team rules"? I assume they vary from team to team but likely refer to issues like curfews (do they have those?), drinking, missed or late practices, etc. I also assume that academic issues are separate and apart, but maybe missed classes or academic assignments could also be subject to such rules. In any event, it will definitely be an uphill battle for Union with their top 4 scorers absent though I am more concerned by the possible misconduct of team members.

You probably covered it all-I would not read too much into this episode. The coach realizes this is not a league game and is a good time to send a message to the players involved. I am pretty sure if this was later in the season, it may have been handled differently.

You forgot two other ones I have witnessed, mainly general misbehavior that reflects poorly on the team (acting like clowns while in public on the road, screwing up hotel rooms, general stupid crap, etc) or behavior/statements in public that disrespect the team (Saying the team isn't likely to win the next game to a reporter, vandalizing a school logo, etc)

That said, I have absolutely no clue why the 4 out tonight are suspended and doubt it's one of the reasons I said.
