RPI vs Army 10/31/09

Re: RPI vs Army 10/31/09

I hate to second guess-but you just cannot underestimate anyone anymore. We can't blame this on a hot goalie-we just did not finish our shots and we got out muscled throughout the game. We were faster and more skilled but we fell into playing Army's game. This team has a lot to learn yet.

good points all...

Re: RPI vs Army 10/31/09

I had uninivited guests come in just at the start of the third period. Maybe I should thank them?
I got back to the game with about 3 minutes left, and it was too late for RPI by then.
As in previous games, we get our chances but can't seem to finish enough of them.
Our offense is very young and still learning, but a guy like Cullen has got to get it going. Also, we need Helfrich back in the line up for the ECAC games.
Merriam did not get a lot of work last night. Were the goals soft? Or did they come from defensive breakdowns and Army's normal hard work?
I am hoping that by the end of the season we will be burying more of those chances that we give ourselves.

Both shots came off rebounds, and Army picking up the trash.
I also hope we start putting some shots in as well. Sometimes they go in, and sometimes they don't.
If you want to see the 3rd period, RPI TV has it up on their website.

Re: RPI vs Army 10/31/09

The goals came from right in front and several attempts to just push it in-we just did not seem to be able to outmuscle Army in front of our net on the few chances they got there. We took lots of shots but most were not high quality-I did not think their goalie had to make any fantastic saves-he was just steady and held his ground well. This was one game, especially in the third period-where some extra size on our part could have helped.

Thanks for the info on the third period, I'll pass this time. If we had come back to win, I would watch that.
