Just took a look through the score threads... Brown tied BU?! I know BU has been on the decline, but I didn't realize it was already March... :eek:

This may be an interesting weekend for all four games. I know there's 3 ranked teams involved, but we better be ready for a tough fight, even against the other one...

This is the toughest remaining ECAC weekend of the year for RPI. I'll be very happy with 2 points total but even that is going to be difficult. I would not be surprised if these are the four bye teams in the ECAC this year.

Adding interest is the obvious revenge factors in the RPI games. Yale will be ready to go after getting beaten badly at home last year. RPI will be looking to avenge the awful penalty calls that gave the game to Brown last year. I'm looking forward to being in Providence for that one.

In the past four games, Brown has swept AT Cornell and Colgate (for the first time in 18 years) and tied AT #6 UNH and #2 BU (while coming away slightly disappointed in both after holding 2-goal leads). I'd be surprised if it isn't 4 ranked teams; or at least 3 ranked and 1 with plenty of votes garnered.

I am concerned that the 3 week layoff could be a factor for Union this weekend, at least the first night against Brown. Brown always gives Union a hard time and seems to generally match up well with them. Add in the questionable status of top scorer, Adam Presizniuk, and I think the concern mounts, not to mention that Brown is a vastly improved team going back to the second half of last season. Union may have caught somewhat of a break in that it appears that Zolnierczyk may be inellgible for Friday's game due to a DQ vs. BU on Saturday. As far as Yale is concerned, Union will likely be in for its toughest test so far this season, at least if you go by the rankings.

As far as the other half of the CD partnership RPI will be facing a Yale team that will also be coming off a fairly long layoff. RPI looks primed after finally jettisoning their Holiday Tournament blues and they seem to always play Yale tough. I think there may just a bit of extra motiviation from last March, if that's necessary, when they take on Brown on Saturday.

I think that the Brown turnaround starts with their coach. He is very much just like APpert. Brown is no longer a laughing stock and that started at the hfh last playoffs :(

Harry Z got 27 minutes of penalties in that last game-but I do not know if he has to sit one game out.

I would disagree, I think that similar to RPI, they started to see light at the 2009 playoffs after sweeping Harvard as the #12 seed. However, I see it more along the lines of the ECAC unwritten rule regarding Cornell. Time will tell come late January when all of the teams really buckle down towards league play.

This is a very different RPI team than the one that dominated Yale last year. Last year we were able to match their speed and fire power with Pirri and D'Amigo. This year, we have the speed, but we will need to find the back of the net. Also, if JFK cannot play, it may be a long night.
Hopefully, the lay off will hold Yale back, at least in the first period.
The Yale team is very talented and we will need all of our weapons to beat them.
I will be in attendance to root on the Engineers. I expect a very good close game either way.

The box score states "Game Disqualification", therefore he is required to sit out at least one game. I don't know if the league will choose to hand out any further suspensions.

EDIT: Didn't see the 10-minute misconduct earlier in the game, there may be more. Plus, I think I remember seeing one of the new(er) rules is that a game is added for each game DQ received by the player. Maybe just the carry-over between years was implemented.

Correct-we matched up well with them last year and could skate with them at their own game. Not sure if this is the case this year. Will need an incredible defensive effort to keep them down. Yale really is that good. The Brown game may well turn into a special teams penalty fest-depends on the refs. We will need to be able to kill off penalties well and take advantage when we do get the man advantage. This may well be the toughest weekend on the road this year for us.

If he does have to sit out more than 1 game-i certainly won't miss him.:rolleyes:

We'll probably see something either tomorrow or Wednesday, based upon when we heard about Appert's suspension last week, as well as when the league hands down additional suspensions to other players.

You're right on both counts - it's an NCAA rule that each game DQ adds to the games a player must sit out (this isn't new):
The progressive game-disqualification structure shall be:
1. First disqualification penalty—that game plus one.
2. Second disqualification penalty—that game plus two.
3. Third disqualification penalty—that game plus three.
4 Fourth disqualification penalty—that game plus four.

The NCAA did add rules this season that any remaining games to be served for game DQ's carry over until next season, as well as additional game suspensions for players receiving more than 3 game misconduct penalties in a season.

To the best of my knowledge, the only relevant indication is that he said in an interview right after the injury that he was hoping to come back for the Yale game (with the context of the comment indicating that it was most likely wishful thinking).

He's being held out this week for precautionary reasons. I would expect that he's not back til UAH, just to play things safe. Well, that and concussions are funny things.

Burgie-you are so right. They are extremely unpredictable. I did not like hearing that he lost consciousness for 15-20 seconds. Confusion is one thing, loss of sensorum is a whole new ball game. You really cannot tell about these things some times for a few weeks.
