Re: RPI @ Union, Saturday, 10/31/15

Ralph, thanks for starting the thread. I hate it when we win on Friday and someone else jumps in to start the Saturday thread. I'm not too superstitious.
I hope that the team realizes that they must come out tonight and play the same way they did last night. The Union goalie let in a couple of softies last night, and we can't expect that again tonight.
It would be great to start the ECAC schedule with two wins against one of our biggest rivals.
Someone needs to let these guys know that Union will not just give it to us.

Lets go red!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Ralph, thanks for starting yesterday's thread... you get the chance to keep the streak going.

Hey, EHF, you are on to something. I was reading the morning paper and saw an interesting quote...

Rick Bennett, as quoted in today's Times Union:
- "That is the best I have ever seen them (RPI) play in my time here. They were hungry tonight. We didn't play hungry. I addressed the team. This is the worst loss in my time here. Hands down, not even close."

- "That was an absolute great game by RPI. Outcoached, definitely outplayed, that was like a Stanley Cup Game 7 for them and they played like it."

Hmmm...

Rick Bennett, translated:
- RPI beat us with a maximum effort coupled with positively the worst game I have ever seen my team play. We didn't show up.

- I addressed (challenged) my team. We will show up tonight. Vecchione will play tonight. And RPI won't match last night's performance.

Strap 'em up, Red. You know what's coming. Go for it tonight. Block shots, get loose pucks, play for one another. Total team.

RPI women tied Colgate today 3-3 to pick up 3 points on the weekend. Rooney with two goals.

Re: RPI @ Union, Saturday, 10/31/15

Thanks FDude: really like that SA did not do too much tinkering and that he left Grant in again. Union is a banging rough team and his size can be of help. Also just like 7 D in any case as the game gets really difficult in case one D man gets hurt(or extensively penalized) and you have to play short. Good to see DM back in the line up to give Union a bit of a change of pace to worry about. Adding his speed to some of the size we have listed could be just one more problem for them to think about. Besides, this might be the first time I have seen an RPI team with 2 Jersey boys on the ice together.

Re: RPI @ Union, Saturday, 10/31/15

Same linesmen as last night; Curtis and St. Lawrence with the stripes.

How many times can we expect one of our boys (ET?) to be tossed from the faceoff circle tonight with this crew? And, what is your over and under for penalty minutes this time?

Not counting the late extracurriculars to make the penalties "seem more even", I was fairly spot on last night. As for tonight, these stripes are a bit better at calling a fair game. Still, discounting "even-out calls", I'd put it at RPI 10 - 2 Union. As much as we'd like to see things called on Union, from the game I saw video of last year, there really isn't very much that you CAN call them on. Ten PIM seems par for the course for RPI, so I'll go with that. However, I'll try to unofficially yet impartially track (i.e. not in the game reset) what sorts of penalties there could be. Angle's different, and I have the luxury of going back in time with video instead of having to make a split-second decision, so their job is MUCH more difficult than it looks.

Re: RPI @ Union, Saturday, 10/31/15

Cool looking jersey. One of the better ones that I've seen for Black Saturday (or Friday).
Looking forward to watching RPI Tv tonight. It's the only chance I get to watch since I go to all home games except Halloween.

Re: RPI @ Union, Saturday, 10/31/15

So I've had a Ninja Turtle, a few Princesses, Batman, Batgirl, evil Mickey Mouse, and a plethora of other ghouls and goblins getting their Halloween candy. Let's hope RPI gives union a few more tricks tonight and gives themselves a nice little treat.
