RPI @ Union (Friday 11/15/13)

Re: RPI @ Union (Friday 11/15/13)

Yale beats the RPI women, 2-1. It was the classic outshoot-but-run-into-a-brick-wall-for-a-goalie situation.

Re: RPI @ Union (Friday 11/15/13)

Hopefully can join in on the thread tonight-some medical things going on but I should be able to handle this stuff through instant messaging and email. This could be a very active posting evening with a ton of penalties to report. In the past that was not a good thing for us-Union has used the special teams play to take quite an advantage. This year we have been able to deal with being short handed a bit better and our power play has not been as anemic as in the past few years. Hopefully we do not see 5 on 3 situations or extended time short handed consecutively. This one could simply come down to who outcoaches who-with the advantage to the home team having last change and puting the match ups out there they prefer. Go Red!!!

We have a way of making the opposing goalie look good. Shots were 40-12 RPI. Another frustrating game, but I think things will come along...this is by far the most talented RPI team I have seen in the skating / playmaking areas.

From what I saw at Colgate last week, they are certainly very talented and are very good at controlling play.

They usually do. Anything's better than Union's attempt at a band, which features 2 tubas and a kazoo.
It's not the soind they make that i dislike, i think Clarkson produces a worse sound. The one game i attended at Union this year they were in a constant battle with the piped in music; making just a unrecognizable jumble of noise.

When you play with the effective volume of a mouse fart, it's understandable.

The last time the first game of the year between RPI and Union was played at Messa rink was in October of 2009, and RPI won in overtime, 4-3.

Pains me that I am going to have to miss tonight's game...I expect it'll be a good 'un.

Not sure where the NCAA draws the line on coaches criticizing refs, but hopefully SA is staying on the right side of that line with his soft (but persistent) critique of the Colgate game:)

I just thought the same thing and said to my folks - "Wonder if he'll be watching from home tomorrow night."
