RPI@Union 11/1/14

Re: RPI@Union 11/1/14

Just wanted to let everyone know that video can be purchased for tonight's game at the Union Athletics web site ($7.95).

I have no idea of what the quality will be.

Re: RPI@Union 11/1/14

Great performance last night, lets do it again.

LETS GO RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Union will be motivated tonight. They will have a their home crowd and enjoy the last change on ice. They will hear stirring words from their coach. All those things going for them. And I say: GO, RED, GO.

Very disappointed that TW Cable is not broadcasting tonight's game. All they're showing is a replay of last nights HS FB game. :(

Probably crud from the press box and you can't even see anything. Not worth the monetary waste.

They probably thought it'd be another blowout. Not to mention, you hardly get any hockey coverage on TV while that slow and boring game where they stand around half the time is played.

Re: RPI@Union 11/1/14

Absolutely no way to know what we will see tonight. I cannot remember a better 20 minutes of hockey that the first period last night. Every aspect of the game worked and Union had nothing going at all. I am not so sure the second and third twenty minutes were even close to as good(the scoring is not a good way to judge). Once we were up by 2 and Union of course down by 2-a lot changed including but not limited to player confidence. But the freshmen just looked awesome and I would not make any change in the Miller/Nanne/Melanson line as they really do seem to have something going. Fast for sure, but also seem to find each other out there and the communication with the defense joining in made for some really entertaining hockey.
You can place a nice size wager that the Union team we see tonight will be much different. But for one night, we really put out the effort all of us have been asking for and it paid off in spades.

Absolutely no way to know what we will see tonight. ... the freshmen just looked awesome ... for one night, we really put out the effort all of us have been asking for and it paid off in spades.

It's an interesting choice, in a way: would folks prefer a young, talented team still learning how to gel consistently so that we have more extreme highs and lows, yet in the long run wind up in a decent place? or would folks prefer a more "grind it out" style that works more often than not, enough to get us to a decent place?

is it only about the destination? or does the journey matter as well.

Those who won't be satisfied unless we win every game with a shutout, please don't respond. ;)

With the current state of NCAA division I hockey and in particular the parity and talent in the ECAC, I would never expect a 35-2-1 season from us again. I just want us to be the most competitive team for 60 minutes every time we take the ice. Minimize mistakes, take advantage of errors by others, and excel at the fundamentals. Win faceoffs, score on the power play, defend when short handed. The wins and losses will take care of themselves. After watching this team for 7 games there are just a lot of pieces to put together. When they mesh(as they seemed to perfectly early yesterday) it is truly incredible to watch. When they don't, well, that's another story. Repetition of what we did right yesterday will win us a bunch of the remaining games. More importantly it will just make this team a very exciting team for us to watch.

Re: RPI@Union 11/1/14

After WRPI did not play Music! yesterday, I was hoping that they won't play it again.

Re: RPI@Union 11/1/14

They gave Neal an assist on Bourbonnais' third goal. I get a point finally. :)

SA gave his usual talk tonight-all important points but avoiding penalties early is key.
