I attended the game last night and it was great to see a relatively well attended and enthusiastic crowd. (Unfortunately, I didn't win one of the cool Black Out jerseys...) At first I though the refs were calling early penalties to set expectations and keep the game in check. Unfortunately it soon become obvious it just poor officiating - on both sides of the puck. I also disagreed with the 5min major, but credit to Union, they made the most of their chances with some nice snips to Waton's stick-side which seems to be his Achilles heel. Union also has a VERY aggressive fore-check making it difficult for RPI to cleanly break out of their zone. And puck possession also seemed to favor Union as they quickly picked up the dump-and-chase pucks from RPI and maintained possession for good lengths of time. 24 on their team was very effective all night. But with all of that, it was a fairly close game, with Rainers Rullers (who is a big kid!) really involved and a big factor all night. So with some adjustments, tonight is a very winnable game. It was great to see Muzzatti out there last night - he is a difference maker, but he wasn't throwing the body around as much as usual and was avoiding getting checked as much as possible - obviously still healing, but factored in the scoring in his 1st game back! Lets get the W tonight, and Lets Go Red!
