RPI @ Union, 1/14/12

Re: RPI @ Union, 1/14/12

Union is the better team this season and I have no shame in saying that as an RPI fan. I respect Union and root for them when they arent playing RPI. Im a Capital District guy and like to see our teams do well. You gotta hit rock bottom before you can climb up again. Im not going to play the what if games with the outcomes if certain players stayed with RPI. The team needs to look deep and decide if they want to do something with the rest of this season or be known as the worst team in RPI history (record wise of course).

I thought the trip to Boston and getting in late caught up to Union as the game wore on. But the game was pretty much over with in the first period.

Re: RPI @ Union, 1/14/12

Positive spin is probably necessary for the sake of the players, but it is getting increasingly grating for the fans.

That one may make it look a little better on paper-but this one was never in doubt. Coach SA will put his best spin on this-that we played well 5 on 5, that we created lots of opportunities, etc. But we were never in this one from the first two penalties.

Sure is. Especially the latest spin, " We aernt win driven, but process driven"(If I'm correct on the wording). So, what exactly does that mean? They aernt trying to win any more games this year?

Kind of nice to see the lack of spin Appert put up in the postgame interview Ken Schott posted. Same with Brock Higgs-one reporter asked if they could feel any better about the game given their effort in the third period, and he flat out said the entire game was terrible and there was no excuse or bright point. Glad to hear they aren't happy either. Although I agree with the "process" approach at this point-focus on playing better, even if it will only help lay a good foundation for next year. And if forgetting about the scoreboard for a while is what it takes to learn better play, than so be it.
