RPI @ UMass (10/8/09) and UNH @ RPI (10/10/09)

Re: RPI @ UMass (10/8/09) and UNH @ RPI (10/10/09)

Schools in the maritimes (like UNB, UPEI, SFX, Acadia, etc.) are usually pretty good. Don't read too much into it. If you wanted a pushover you should have scheduled Toronto or Ottawa or Trois-Rivieres.

I remember that Ottawa game, priceless.

You could also schedule York if you wanted your fans to have a good show; I think when we played them, at one point the only person on the ice who WASN'T fighting was Alford.

A question for RPI fans: Do any of you know if the new recovery sports grill on Hoosick Street will be showing the RPI-UMass game on thursday night? I thought I saw somewhere that they will be showing away games this season. If not no big deal I can always listen to it on WRPI.

The game isn't going to be televised anywhere, so I'm not sure how they'd have it on TV. They might be talking about games like GLI or the Princeton game which will be on TV.

Could they get the B2 feed?

Re: RPI @ UMass (10/8/09) and UNH @ RPI (10/10/09)

A few of us RPI fans are heading over to the game. Any info UMass'ers can provide on ticket availability? How about local eateries? Thanks.

I'm not a UMasser, but I've been down there a bit . . .

Since you can't go to my old roomate's mother's house for her awesome Lasagna, I'd recommend Antonios Pizza, in downtown. It's a little hole in the wall, but the best pizza I've ever had. I always suggest this place to anybody visiting.

If you do end up at Kris's house, please bring me some leftovers. :D

UNHPuckfan is right on with his recommendation of Antonio's, located right downtown. If you're into brewpubs there's a great one directly across the street from there, the Amherst Brewing Company.

You also can't go wrong with the Hangar (best wings in the valley and beyond) or Rafters as umassfan49 suggested. My pregames are spent in one of those three places (Antonio's usually makes for a good postgame meal)

Re: RPI @ UMass (10/8/09) and UNH @ RPI (10/10/09)

This is what I had figured when I saw they were planning on showing away games.

Easiest way to find out for sure would be to just call them and ask.

My mistake. The UMass game won't be on B2 although UMass might use a similar service.

A couple years ago UMass had free streaming video of every game. Then they switched to a pay service where you had to signup for a month at a time minimum. This year I don't see any video hyperlinks on their schedule page so I have no idea what's going on. I would check www.umassathletics.com on gameday just to doublecheck and see if there's anything available.

Re: RPI @ UMass (10/8/09) and UNH @ RPI (10/10/09)

tickets are fairly easy to come by the ticket office is right near front door and are not very expensive, there is also lots of free parking around the arena. for a pre-game meal id suggest either rafters or wings located on university drive, and there are also several place to eat in downtown amherst.

Thanks for the tips 49. Looking forward to it.

If you like diner food, the BlueBonnet Diner just north of Northampton is a good bet. Right on US Route 5.

Re: RPI @ UMass (10/8/09) and UNH @ RPI (10/10/09)

team they didn't beat: lowell. boom.

Yeah. UML had a nice restful Saturday. UNB had to play UNH the previous night, leading into an afternoon game. So, you have a team that's been skated into the ground at Lake Whitt, then send them out against a team that rested the night before, and you expect?

It looks to me like you can access the video feed from this page:
http://www.umassathletics.com/ot/webcasts.html
You have to download MS Silverlight (no charge) and pay for a monthly subscription to UMass All-Access. The cost is $9.95.
