RPI @ SLU - Friday, February 8th

fr joe

Go Red! Go White!
Woke up late, but not too late to start the thread. :) Is everyone watching the weather report instead? ;)
Under cover of snow and darkness, may RPI play their game and skate away with big road points this weekend! GO RED!

Aside to DrD: My favorite Adirondack toboggan run is NY 74 eastbound between Eagle Lake and the north side of Ticonderoga. The last mile is impressive!

I could have started it, but I defer to those who are on a winning streak. :)

There are some real difficult climbs and drops int he Adirondacks. heading south and east from BML, through Indian Lake across what we call the flats you eventually come to North River Hill. Not necessarily the seepest of hills but it certainly qualifies as a long descent. You can take your foot off the gas and just let the car accelerate dow the hill-for a couple of miles-saving considerable gas. You really have to watch though as when you get to the bottom there is a rather sharp right curve and you go along the North River where the road is virtually always covered in black ice. In the summer, going in the opposite direction and climbing that hill is a great test of just how much horsepower your car has. Not as long of course, but almost as steep as the road heading up Whiteface.

Big game tonight-our boys will have their hands full-trying to show we can do as well on the road as we have at home. Go Red!!

Re: RPI @ SLU - Friday, February 8th

While all the games are big for the rest of the season, I think this one will produce the biggest psychological edge.
A win tonight gets us to .500 for the season in and out of conference.
We are playing well and we are on a roll, but the north country trip is never easy.

NY 73 along the mountain once you pass Cascade lakes towards Keene is also a good one. Sadly back-seat drivers can ruin my fun...

Tonight, we have something to prove. OK, so we played a few games last week. It's still only two wins. Just like because of the Union rule the 12th place team's record in March suddenly becomes 0-0-0, it's a fresh start. One period at a time, one shift at a time, let's have some consistency.

I'm still up in the air on if I'm going to drive to this game; I'll have to see what the forecast is for the Tug Hill.

Someone beat me.

I didn't realize that you were a masochist. ;)

And thanks to whoever did add the tags.
Edit: Since three tags were added after my two, it either was fr joe or at least two people.

I normally just hold my breath for the 2 minutes of any RPI power play. I exhale only after it is over and we clear our own zone. I am not even comfortable when we are up 2 men.

I am going to be torn between watching this one and watching the Clarkson at RPI women's game...probably decide at game time. RPITV is doing the video for the women's game, but I wonder who will do the audio with WRPI covering the men?
