RPI @ SLU (Friday 2/18/11)

Re: RPI @ SLU (Friday 2/18/11)

another great period of play by slu, who has outplayed rpi by far in the first two periods. refs let them play a little bit more that period, and probably missed 1 or 2 penalties both ways, but have still been well above expectations.

rpi looked a little chippy in the middle of the period, especially after the whistle. kyle flanagan has also been chippy at times and is lucky to not be penalized atleast once.

2nd period ends. That was just awful.
What happens to these guys on Friday nights?

Foss and JFK not having stellar nights on defense. Thy have been on the ice for most of the goals tonight. Not sure that they could much more to stop tings though. SLU is just playing extremely well and deserves to be up on top tonight.

And one of the guys playing the best for SLU happens to be Moss.

Re: RPI @ SLU (Friday 2/18/11)

There are several guys playing well for SLU.

Oh, I agree. I think the whole team looks good and I think the score reflects the play so far. I'm just saying that Moss has been tested several times and they've needed him to be good. It's not like the whole game has been played in RPI's end.

A quick thought on our 5 on 3..

A while back I was reading an NHL oriented article that discussed the tactic and success rate of pulling the goalie in 5 on 3 situations. I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of this being done on a college level? Seems like the sort of thing a gutsy coach like Appert would try.

Appert has done it before, but typically in the 3rd period when we are down.
