The AJHL has cancelled all remaining games between any of the 5 teams leaving the league after this season and any of the remaining 11 teams.

Seems very dumb to me. As a few posters commented. it's like a kid taking home his ball when something does not go its way.
The ECAC didn't dump UVM when they said that they were leaving. They didn't immediately dump BU, BC, PC, et al., when they said they were leaving.
I have the feeling that the 5 teams will put together some kind of schedule for the rest of the year.
