RPI Recruit Thread 2023-24

On Tuesday, the Fort McMurray Oil Barons defeated the Blackfalds Bulldogs 2-1. Noah Heinrich had an assist (PPA) and an interference penalty. Matt Hanscom had no points or penalties. Ryan Shaw had no points or penalties. https://www.ajhl.ca/stats/game-summary/17323

Heinrich's Fort McMurray line is now 16-0-6-6-4.
His total is 21-0-6-6-4.
Hanscom's line is now 13-0-2-2-24.
Shaw's line is now 20-3-4-7-16.

recruiting has really slowed down? We haven’t had a commit in a while. Looking at top 04s theirs a few uncommitted. Caden Cranston is uncommitted he’s leading the bchl in scoring also he’s from Rochester ny. Aaron Swartz also uncommitted is top 5 in scoring in bchl. Dubuque has a big Swede in net who’s an Ottawa draft pick uncommitted. Theirs a few Latvian kids who are 3.75-4* uncommitted. Anyone else notice oakenfold isn’t producing much in the ajhl and babich has seen a big drop off in scoring?

Cranston is apparently a Bentley recruit although his BCHL page doesn't indicate it.

Oakenfold is producing at about the same rate as last year -- scoring more and assisting less. Ziliotto is the skater who is concerning me the most.

Aaron Schwartz is between Quinnipiac, Clarkson and Northeastern per Mark Divver. Don't know about Cranston. I would assume they know about Reidler and especially all the Latvian players with Coach Zirnis. You can always contact them if you want to let them know about recruits they should look at (odds are that they already are looking but can't hurt). I know turk would always do that and get replies thanking him.

Oakenfold was injured at the beginning of the year and playing through. Not sure if he still is. Don't know why babich's scoring fell off so much

Yeah forget about ziliotto. Hes not producing much. Cranston is uncommitted

I’m sure they know about all of them. Hopefully they can start committing some of these players. We have no Germans or Austrians on our roster which is a little odd with Lange recruiting. Hockeys popularity has picked up considerably in both Germany and Austria. I spend 2-3 months a year in Germany being my parents are both German. I watch many games over there.

Has anyone seen an Alberni Valley line chart? My guess is that Ziliotto, as a rookie '05 playing on one of the better teams in the league, is playing on a checking line. Frankly, given our defense this season, if he learns to play well in his own end and then gets another year or even two on scoring lines before heading to Troy, that wouldn't be a bad thing.

As for the lack of commitments over the last 6+ months, I've been wondering about that myself.

Alberni Valley's line charts are posted on their Twitter feed. He's been on the 4th line.
