After entering the transfer portal after Merrimack's season ended, Jacob Modry is now at D3 SUNY Plattsburgh. Guess we dodged a bullet there

This is the first that i have heard of it. He is also not listed as our recruit on his BCHL page or on his Twitter account. He is still on the Elite Prospects and on Heisenberg. He disappeared on the line charts on 10/1. He was listed as us on 9/29. It would not surprise me if he is no longer our recruit, but like Fawkes I will continue following him until I learn something definite.

Upon further investigation, this guy is Itagaki's advisor who usually #hashtags college programs in references to his committed clients' exploits. Since this 10/10 tweet doesn't reference #rpi, I'd say that's fairly definitive :-(

I agree. He will be gone in the next update. I suspect that it is Coach Smith who instigated this, as undoubtedly we have more recruits than we are likely to need, and Wallace may have replaced him in the outyears as a small forward.

In my opinion, the BCHL is an offensive league, unlike the ECAC, and Itagaki will thrive there. Also, as you wrote, a small sample size.

It's quite likely that neither wanted to make this decision. We only have 3 spots available with certainty for next season (1F, 1D, 1G). I presume Coach Smith also has a pretty good idea which players will stay to use their COVID-enabled extra year of eligibilty. He may have been honest with the recruit and let him know that the earliest he'd be coming in would be 2023. Itagaki committed to us back in 2018 and stayed loyal through all we've experienced since then. However, not everyone wants to be a 21 year old freshman. If that's the case, good luck to him finding a better opportunity for next year.
