I thought for sure that Itagaki would be taken after his production this season for Janesville.

Well, their leading scorer (as a freshman), Hernandez, was a teammate of Mahshie, McIsaac and Jakob Lee at Brooks. I suspect he will have a few suitors and we have a pretty full roster, but if he did come it would be a Bandits reunion in Troy.

Not surprising if he is no longer a recruit.
As much as it pisses me off when a kid commits and then backs out for what he perceives as a better opportunity, we've had to deal with it as a modern reality and this is the unfortunate flipside. I'd almost be surprised if he is still a recruit because he just hasn't developed. This is what happens when a sport is recruiting 2 or 3 years out and both players and coaches have to make their best guess as to where they will be at enrollment time. When they see things differently sometimes the school gets screwed and sometimes the kid is the unfortunate victim. In a best case scenario it's a mutual agreement that there is no longer a match and both sides go their own way. In this case there's obviously some potential as an NAHL team was clearly high on him based on their comments when they made him a high pick. For some reason, however, he wasn't able to gt on the ice and justify that optimism.
