Aiden Dubinsky off the board!

Round 2 Pick 28 to the Omaha Lancers

I figured you would have posted this while I was reading the other thread,

Size? Well, i guess he will probably grow, but 5'9.75" isn't exactly big.

Imagine how good our backend would be if we could land Dubinsky, Healey and Kjellberg. One can only dream...

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2019-20 (Part II)

I would be surprised if they are not, especially Brown. Any of our recruits who are not going to RPI in the fall (except for Babich who was a Phase-I draftee last year) may be drafted. Actually even the 2000-births and later going to RPI could be drafted, but probably not.

After thinking a bit, I expect Brown, Robinson, McDonald, and perhaps Nykonen and Watson to be drafted today. Leibold, Fawkes, and Itagaki are eligible, but i don't expect them to be drafted, although i hope that they are. Babich is already an affiliate of Omaha.

I think Leibold gets taken too in the late rounds.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2019-20 (Part II)

Because Nykanen has played 3 consecutive years in NA isn’t he exempt from the USHL Import rule?

That could be. I was trying to be vague because although I have read those rules many times, they are confusing and hard to remember for me. Also they change them yearly. :D

Edit: https://www.ushl.com/news_article/show/1045852

Teams cannot carry more than four import players on their roster at one time.
Teams can only carry one import goaltender on their roster at one time.
A team is permitted to carry up to two Canadian import skaters (non-goaltenders) that will not count towards the aforementioned four import player limit.
Any import goaltender, including a Canadian goaltender, will count as two players toward the four-import player limit.

I see nothing about 3 years in NA, but that does not mean it isn't there. If there is not 3-year rule. I doubt that Watson, who would take up 2 spots, would make a roster, although he could be drafted. Hhe would also count, because he was born in 2000 as an overage player. (That is also covered in the link.)

Even though he could be drafted, I think Watson would probably just stay in Coquitlam. Why leave a place where you're about to become the #1 goaltender in a league that is barely below the USHL in talent? Especially considering both the import and overage numbers would be against him. It'd be an uphill battle.

Edit: Seems like you agree, Ralph

Yes. Also. the BCHL being a scorers' league, is probably helpful for a goalie as far as training goes. By original list was about who would be drafted, not who is likely to show up and to stick.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2019-20 (Part II)

Finn Brown's teammate Ryan Alexander just went to Dubuque in the 2nd round. I predict Brown will go in the late 3rd

He didn't make it. :D We did have PJ Fletcher of QU near the end of the 3rd.

Seriously, I I also though Brown would go by now. Perhaps he is not interested in the USHL, although i figured that Smith would suggest it to him and everyone else.
