Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2017-18 (Part II)

From Select 17
https://www.sbncollegehockey.com/co...kings-five-nations-tournament-scouting-report

Zachary Dubinsky, Forest #16, Left Shot, 5'8"/160, Chicago Mission 16U -€” He's an undersized winger that could be a nice bottom six forward down the line. He impressed on the penalty kill, doing the little things and being quick on puck pursuit. He thinks the game well and slows it down because of his hockey IQ.

From the same blog post

Gunnarwolfe Fontaine, Forest #11, Left Shot, 5'9"/155, Providence Capitals 16U -€” He's a gritty player, especially for his size. He doesn't have the best frame or skill set, but he found the score sheet because of his tenaciousness. He knocked over an opposing right defenseman on the forecheck, forcing a turnover and sending it out front for a chance in the game against Gold.

They were listed among the "others" in alphabetical order.

Among the ranked is Matt C. I think I posted this before.

21. Matt Cameron, Orange #15, Right Shot, 5'11"/185, North Jersey Avalanche (RPI) -€” His passing ability was easily notable, in addition to his four assists. He always has his head up and is looking to make a play to set up a teammate. Gaining the zone down the right wing on Wednesday, he gave a great feed to a linemate without breaking stride.

If you look at the Lincoln Stars twitter, they usually post their lineup. For awhile now, Dubinsky has been listed as a defenseman. Having watched a few of the highlight videos because of Ashbrook, I believe he has been playing defense.

I could be wrong, but that’s what I’ve seen. I might check further in the coming days.

If he has been playing defense, no idea if it’s a permanent switch, or maybe they just needed him to for team reasons.

Edit: Checking quickly, the Lincoln Stars twitter had him a forward last game. However, the game before that, he was listed as a defenseman. Press release lists him as a forward. Going to assume it was temporary.

Good to see we have another person in. And it's good that Coach is seeking some role players on this team, not just all-stars like we had previously.

Please no squish the midget...

This was their lineup for their last game. He’ld have to be REAL special to play D at 5’7” (that’s confirmed by the NHL) for RPI....... <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">10 MINUTE WARNING!<br><br>&#55357;&#56571;: <a href="https://twitter.com/937TheTicket?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@937TheTicket</a> <br>&#55357;&#56570;: <a href="https://twitter.com/MyHockeyTV?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@MyHockeyTV</a> <br>&#55357;&#56741;: <a href="https://t.co/MPlx4***Yo">https://t.co/MPlx4***Yo</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/OneLNK?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#OneLNK</a> <a href="https://t.co/bcFqe2Ik9D">pic.twitter.com/bcFqe2Ik9D</a></p>— Lincoln Stars (@LincolnStars) <a href="https://twitter.com/LincolnStars/status/962490070111580160?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 11, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Interesting. They are three years apart in age and haven't played together. Perhaps they visited RPI for the same game.

I have listened to parts of many Lincoln games, and although I heard Dubinsky's name, I wasn't paying any attention to him.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2017-18 (Part II)

If ZD’s “projected” by some as a bottom 6 player at the next level then my hats off to him. As a 17yr old who’s obviously not a big time scorer to be an every day player in the U is quite an accomplishement.

I assume that you don't remember Paul Rakowski ('72 but didn't graduate). He looked shorter than me.

I suspect that Lincoln was short on defensemen and just listed him there. Although he is indeed listed as d-man on recent lineup charts he doesn't appear that way on box scores. E.g. lineup <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">13 forwards and 6 defenseman with <a href="https://twitter.com/AustinMagera?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@AustinMagera</a> slotted right into the lineup. OTOH, the tweet indicates he did play D.

Dubinsky's scoring appears to have been picking up in recent games (as opposed to Lacka), so he might be getting used to the USHL. As you said, he is just 17. We'll see what he does next season.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2017-18 (Part II)

So Ralph, have you looked at CH’s commits for today, at least in the last hour  .....oh, phew :)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2017-18 (Part II)

Interest from Clarkson early on but I believe he wanted to create his own legacy, best of luck to him.

You know that is Reid Leibold's brother and I don't root for Army where he was formerly committed since I used to work for the Navy. :p
