Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2016-17

Not sure if it's available, but is there information on the dexterity of the recruits? As much as I appreciate the coaching staff catering to the natural southpaws, it does provide quite the disadvantage in terms of shooting/passing angles.

Babichuk left http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=148086
Bendorf left http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=311896
Cameron right http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=316113
Cho left http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=234458
Conger right http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=262557
Ohrvall left http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=225959
Modry left http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=362933
Stout ?? http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=199953

2 right, 5 left, 1 ?

That doesn't sound good for us... unless we're graduating all southpaws this year...

According to Elite Hockey Prospects, DeVito and Reno are right shooting, and Wood and Bourbonnais are left, so we're moving to the left.

Seems like a mistake to me in terms of recruiting. Back in the terrible season of 14-15, of the six regularly playing D-men, five were left-handed. In 15-16, of those that regularly played, it was a little more even for D-men. Last year it was worse with forwards with only 4 right-handed. At least with the forwards you can have the center be either way so it isn't THAT bad, but it doesn't leave you much room with the right wing always having to slice shots, similar to how Patrick Cullen played.

Burgess is a right-handed shot so he may help in that respect. However, IIRC correctly his breakout in Fairbanks coincided with a move to center. I always suspected that's why we added Polino - Burgess was probably targeted for the wing as he'd played in his first two NAHL seasons, but his increase in production was such that they began to see him as a center.

Edit: Gillespie is also a right-hand shot. Losing him certainly didn't help our balance up front.

Also lost Grant for the year... another right-handed shot.

Owen Stout is still injured. I won’t post the summary.

I will modify the previous post if AC was awarded a Star, assuming that the Stars are listed.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2016-17

On Thursday, the Surrey Eagles lost to the Coquitlam Express 4-3 in overtime. Cory Babichuk had two assists. Owen Stout is still injured and did not play. http://bchl.ca/game-summary?game_id=7556

Babichuk's line is now 31-4-16-20-2.
Stout's line is now 17-6-17-23-10.

CB was named the #3 Star.

CB’s assists: It’s difficult to see him in the 2nd, except for the celebration.
