Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16

Estevan's first game is tonight. http://www.estevanbruins.com/news_article/show/554720?referrer_id=618160

Finally, there will be two alternating Assistant Captains for the season. Charlie Manley will take on the role on the road when the Bruins wear their black jerseys while Josh Rieger will dawn the 'A' with White and 3rd Jerseys. Both defensemen are entering their 19 year old season and have shown their leadership abilities both on and off the ice.
That's weird. (So is "dawn" instead of "don". :D) Seriously, it's good to know that CM has leadership qualities

....notice TB’s teammate, Logan Coomes is the leading scorer. Perhaps some remember that name? 2-3 years ago we were trying to figure out who the player was (a recruit) at one game. Remember he was wearing a Frederick Freeze Team windbreaker? That was Logan Coomes. He went on to commit to Q-Pac.

Decommitted by the Q. He's a free agent.

I suspect that we are no longer interested, but stranger things have happened. With four forwards graduating (Bubela, Schroeder, Miller, Fulton) and only three committed so far (Hayhurst, Burgess, Fornaris) we do have an opening, but probably only a partial scholarship.

We'll probably get a commitment tomorrow. :D

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16

I wonder if he will stay with Sherwood Park.
Not sure. Reading this sounds like they’re easing CB into the lineup or he’s on somewhat of a tryout basis (which I guess most 1st yr. players are to an extent)..... “We got our two young defencemen in — Cory Babichuk and Koletrane Wilson — because Evan Bowden was injured,” he said. “Both of them played very well. Cory played on the Friday and Koletrane on the Saturday. Both as young defencemen showed good poise and that they could play at this level.” http://www.sherwoodparknews.com/2015/09/17/cru-amped-for-home-opener

Thanks for finding that. It echoes my feelings.

Captain Brett Magee leads a Crusader Defensive core that should gain notoriety as the one of the top core’s in the AJHL with returnees Ben Sowa, Chase Torontow, Evan Bowden, Chris McKay and Ben McLeod. Rookies Cory Babichuk and Koletrain Wilson will push for playing time and could possibly stick with Sherwood Park past the October Midget player roster cut deadline...... http://www.sherwoodparkcrusaders.ca/media-centre/news-archives.html?newsID=7397

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16

The SPC has played five defensemen for all three games and Babichuk is one of three who has played one game.

There is nothing up at the AMHL (midget league) website except for the exhibition game schedule. Those games are still on-going. He's probably still with the SPC, but ...
