Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16

On Friday, the Wenatchee Wild defeated the Surrey Eagles 2-1. Chase Perry did not play. http://www.bchl.ca/leagues/hockey_boxscores.cfm?clientID=1413&leagueID=2393&gameID=1477293&link=bchl

Perry's line is now 24-13-8-2-2.37-.900.

On Friday, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs defeated the Kenai River Brown Bears 4-1. Todd Burgess had 2 assists (1 PPA) and a cross checking penalty. 4 SOGs http://nahl.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=2710827

Burgess's line is now 24-14-28-42-16.
Silly things I find interesting; brothers Gavin Nieto is Burgess’ goalie @ Fbks and Garrett Nieto is Perry’s partner w/Wenatchee. BTW, nothing I saw shows them related to Matt Nieto of the SJ Sharks.

I knew when I saw Garrett in the lineup yesterday that the name was familiar. :)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16

That surpasses last year’s goal total, by 2, in 21 less games. That’s the kind of progress you like to see.

He's really tearing up the NAHL this season. He's way ahead in the scoring race especially if you throw out his usual linemates. http://nahl.stats.pointstreak.com/scoringleaders.html. He is leading in points, assists, goals, PPGs, and SHAs.

The big question is whether he would have benefited from tougher completion in the USHL. At least he is only going to be tearing up the NAHL for one season since I think it hurt Jacob Laliberte to be in such a situation for a few years.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16

Just for the record, there is an error in the way which the statistics package which the BCHL uses computes a goalie's GAA. When a goalie is in the net in a game for some seconds over an integer number of minutes, the additional seconds are regarded as a decimal instead of a fraction of 60. For example in the 11/27 game Chase Perry was in the net for 1:34 before being pulled, but this was counted as 1.34 minutes instead of about 1.57 minutes. In total, he has lost about 3 minutes resulting in his GAA appearing as 2.40 instead of 2.39. (There is of course round off to the nearest .01.) See Perry's page which lists each game separately. http://www.bchl.ca/leagues/rosters_...&teamID=441298&leagueID=2393&playerID=1349240

Even weirder he was in the net for 59:15 yesterday according to the box score http://www.bchl.ca/leagues/hockey_boxscores.cfm?clientID=1413&leagueID=2393&gameID=1477300, but was credited for 58:75 which was counted as 58.75 in his stats. (He probably was pulled until the ENG was scored and then went back in.)

This does not make a great deal of difference, but I am using my own spread sheet.

The NAHL isn't trash, though. Sure, it's not the USHL, but plenty of decent players have gone from being real strong in the NAHL to being real strong in the NCAA.

I'd probably put the NAHL just a hair below the BCHL in the grand scheme of things. USHL, BCHL, NAHL, OJHL, in that order. Below that, probably Shattuck's and the MN high schools, the AJHL, then eastern preps and the USPHL, the CJHL, and then you're getting into some rougher areas with the MJHL and the SJHL, then the Maritimes league.

Or so I think.

I certainly didn't mean to imply that the NAHL is trash. It's just that he may have benefitted more from the USHL.

BTW, he seems to have been separated from his usual line mates this weekend, and it doesn't appear to have affected him at all.
