RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

Maybe that is why the USHL listed him as from Loudonville, NY (where he lived when born) -- to confuse the CHL. :)
I wondered about that myself (not the confusing part). I’m not 100% sure if he’s WHL or OHL (or is it QMJHL for NY) eligible. I am leaning towards Cali & the WHL though. One other thing we need to remember, being Drafted by a Team doesn’t guarantee you’ve made said Team.

NY is OHL, not Q.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

A week old article discussing how Fairbanks players including Todd Burgess spend their off-ice time. http://www.newsminer.com/sports/ice...cle_71bc0a48-0ddf-11e6-a79f-b7a5efc6173d.html

Center and Phoenix native Todd Burgess added, “I got to go ice fishing and took a dog sled ride. Both were a lot of fun.”

The players had nothing but praise for the program’s staff and volunteers.

Burgess described it as a “ … tight-knit group that runs everything in a professional manner.”

Burgess lauded the work of medical trainer Jim Kimbal —“Jimmy is very good at what he does.”

One off-topic quote.

Burgess added a comment that would never have occurred to me.

“The decision to leave home and come all the way to Alaska shows scouts that you are committed to moving along with your hockey career,” he said.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

https://www.neutralzone.net/2016/04/25/ncaa-early-departures-breakdown/

Kasdorf’s departure was anticipated and therefore RPI stocked up with a heralded goalie recruit out of the BCHL in Chase Perry (Red Wings Draft Pick). They will likely take a step back at the goalie position for the near term, but there’s no doubt Perry has the potential to be a starter at the D1 level.

The article is actually about early departures from the NCAA and their impact. This adds to the post by turk181 where Sam de Luca listed Perry.

That's good news. This was a bantam drive. They could have been too old anyway, but never mind.

Neither appears to have been drafted in their correct year.
Yesterday when I was searching for news about the WHL Draft I thought I read somewhere where ‘99s were eligible. The W Home page does note it was a 2001 Bantam Draft. As much as I don’t understand regarding rules about the USHL I’m lost concerning the CHL.

I clicked on about 50 people in this and previous years and found one drafted a year late.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

On Thursday, the Estevan Bruins lost to the Brooks Bandits (AJHL) 6-4 in the Western Canada Cup. Their round-robin record is 0-4. This ends their season. (The game was meaningless as far as the standings were concerned for both teams.) Charlie Manley did not dress. http://wcc.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=2880378

Manley's WCC line is now 2-0-0-0-0.
His total is 61-2-22-24-27.

I []will[/I] post the Fairbanks summary in the early AM (which won't be too long :) ). The game is going to OT-2 tied 1-1. No points or penalties for Todd Burgess. 4 SOGs.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

Fbks. lost 2-1 in 2OT. I watched the game on fast hockey & was keeping track of TB’s FOs; W-21....L-16. Offensive Zone, W-10...L-7 Defensive Zone, W-5...L-6 Neutral Zone, W-6...L-3.
