Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

Sim ply did not see the date of your post. Thought it referred to tonight instead of the game Monday. Just been a tad hectic after the snow here as everything in this area was postponed. Ridiculous that the schools closed Frida (first snow flakes were at 8PM), Perhaps OK they closed Monday as some back roads might have not been plowed although the major roads were already bone dry), But absolutely stupid that they were closed yesterday as it was a totally wasted day off. (well maybe it is a totally wasted day even if the little tykes go to school?) This was a big nasty storm but it should have only affected Friday night, Saturday all day and night, and perhaps Sunday.
You can't be as snarly as I am without home internet and phone at least until Sunday. At least this calms me down a bit.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

On Wednesday, the Hun School lost to St. Joseph (Metuchen) 6-3. Jon Bendorf scored a goal (PPG). http://highschoolsports.nj.com/game/score/3279407/.

Bendorf's Hun School line is now X-14-15-29-X

The Hun should have wun! Their goalie just had an off night. They outshot and outplayed St. Jo's by a wide margin. BTW there is some real shooters on St. Joseph's. JB played his usual game and had a few opportunities beside the goal he scored but this one pretty much was determined early when their goalie just could not stop the first 3 that went in. I know this is a long way off, but i think we will like what we will see from this kid if he ever does get to Troy. These days i qualify everything as too much can happen before we finally see a recruit from high school at RPI.

Hun lost 6-3. Jonathan Bendorf scored 1g...... http://highschoolsports.nj.com/game/score/3279407/
Turk: This is one boy i think you will like. He needs a lot of work in spots (speed could be better, quickness is fair). But size, strength, decision making seems well above average for his current age. A lot can change and this is still high school and very hard for me to project what will happen but others who know far more seem to think his upside is quite high.

Real nice article, can' t disagree with anything really. I would say that Hayhurst was replacing Schroeder and Burgess was replacing Bubela, based aminly on size, instead of the way which WaP wrote it, but that really significant at all since no two players are really interchangeable (even when we had the Burgdorfer twins :) ).

Nice summary article which kind of puts things into perspective better. The previous article on bracketology left my head spinning like something from the Exorcist. Nice job in talking about what is important with some valuable insights into what we should be looking for in each class. I am a little disappointed in the truth, which is some lowering of expectations for some names mentioned. But overall it still looks like we have some promising young men coming and with our program perhaps that is the best we can ever expect.

Just would like to add that when talking about Shattuck S.M. (talking about E. Orhvall) that KennyG also spent 4 yrs. playing there & going back further, Tyler Eaves.

Bracketology isn't for the medical minded. ;)

That's the beauty of any sort of youth sports. You can rank all you want, but until they get to the next level, you never know what you're going to get. In addition, as much as you can look at a scoresheet, unless you actually watch these kids play in person, there's so much you're missing. Granted I don't think I need to tell you this, as I'm guessing you probably saw Drew Melanson play a fair number of times in Delbarton, but if anyone ever gets a chance to watch these kids in person, definitely take it. I sort of wish I had done so if anyone was playing near Notre Dame around Shillelagh, but it doesn't always work out.

He did say "just to name a few". We also have women recruits from there, e.g. Josefine Hansen and Taylor Schwalbe.

Edit: FWIW under Fornaris WaP mentions that Gillespie played prep. I am sure he knows that it is SSM.

Another minor error is that WaP said that Bendorf's stats which he posted were only his Comcast stats, meaning not his Hun School stats. Actually it is only his AYHL stats -- it doesn't include their nonleague games which is a major part of the schedule.

I had no idea what to do with his stats :(

This is why I need several interpretations. Sometimes i get it, and sometimes it makes less sense to me.

Edit: I am sure i could never find a better system but there are times that I find the entire PWR thing just does not seem like the most fair or accurate way to rank teams.

Dude: That is part of the beauty of working only part time. We get a lot of opportunities to just do what we want and attend what we choose. most important is being married to someone who really does not mind indulging my interests. We love making an evening of it all whether it be a single game somewhere or a tournament. Our only limitations are that we will not travel to unsafe areas and. we will not leave the cats we have rescued if any are in trouble in some way with an illness. We have as you know seen many of these kids years before they get to the upper echelons of Division I play. We saw DM multiple times (along with so many Delbarton kids who have played for the Ivies and elsewhere. We saw a very young Tommy Grant and a developing Ken Killespie. One of the things I have learned from all of this is how difficult it is to project how they will develop. We have friends though who do that for a livelihood for professional organizations and I try to listen and learn from them what they look for.
