Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2014-15

My name is SIOUX (how do you do)....... The first practice on Russian soil went well ... also supplying a good laugh. Several weeks ago we worked with the team, our sponsors Tyson Foods, CCM Hockey and others to utilize sublimation technology in the design of our jerseys. The idea was to showcase a "European" look while acknowledging sponsors and promoting Iowa's global agricultural prowess. We also thought translating the Sioux City Musketeers name into Russian using Cyrillic lettering would bode well with the host country and media. That was the plan and we thought they came out great. A little loud, but unique and fun. The players love them. The front, we were told in the States, translated to "the Musketeers of the Sioux". Well, we were informed by actual Russians that there is no translation for "Sioux" in Russian, so they in fact translate to "Musketeers of Sue". We haven't told the boys quite yet but after watching them practice I doubt we'll be confused with a girl's hockey team at the World Cup. We grin and go for Gold instead.... https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10205141489844007&substory_index=0&id=1447450355

I was trying to figure out what the Cyrillic on the jerseys reads. The first word Мушкетёры seems to be Musketeers. I thought that the second Сью was a transliteration of Sioux which would be the same as Sue.

Edit: Not important really.

European look? As in a bazillion ads with just a very small area to give the team name and the number?

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2014-15

Muskies fell to the Vityaz Chekhov 4-3 in a shoot out in todays exb. game. Details are hard to find. Goals were scored by Rodriguez, Kurker, and Carpenter and the goalies split time.

Rodriguez scored. What else is important when you have an exhibition game prior to a preseason tourney . :)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2014-15

I don't know if you saw this, but here is a game summary http://www.ushl.com/news.php?action=detail&news_id=2593. I couldn't find a box score.
No, I hadn’t seen that. Here’s the closest to a boxscore I’ve come across...... Interpreting the translation from the Russian team's website it looks like the scoring is as follows...

1st Period...
0:1 - SC - Alex Rodriguez (Adam Johnson) @ 1:38
1:1 - Rus - Ivan Ivanov (Ivan Vereshchagin, Artem Shvets-Horny) @ 18:48

2nd Period...
1:2 - SC - Sam Kurker (Neil Pionk) @ 20:43
2:2 - Rus - Ivan Vereshchagin (Ivan Ivanov, Artem Shvets-Horny) @ 28:49
3:2 - Rus - Gregory Dikusin (Ilya Klauzov, Pavel Makarenko) @ 31:56

3rd Period...
3:3 - SC - Robert Carpenter (Joe Snively) @ 58:39... extra attacker.

4:3 - Rus - Nikita Shatsky (Shootout)

Doesn't say if anyone else scored in shootout.

Since I do not keep track of stats in exhibition games for posterity that is certainly good enough. The assists disagree with what is contained in the link in my message, but since AR isn't listed in either, it isn't important at all here.

Here is what I assume is turk's source http://www.hcvityaz.ru/news.php?full=1419.
