Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2014-15

Talking with Melanson’s Dad Sat. night he said we’re going to be very happy to have ET here. Said Drew is very excited to get a chance to possibly play on the same line. Was hoping to see Drew shoot more but as we saw in the 2nd period (& as Doc has been saying) he passed up a great shot for a pass. Did score in the 3rd but on our delayed penalty....did the goalie & D let up knowing the penalty was coming?...happened fast & it was a blast of a shot nontheless.

Turk-I have been talking about some of this for some time. The new recruits coming in, including Tironese, all present with certain abilities and talents. It is the job of the coaches to put them together a bit like a jigsaw puzzle so that they mesh well. Melanson has some very unique abilities but they will be wasted without the right mix on the ice. I do not know ET at all but from what you and RB have reported over the past 2 years, he might fit well with DM. DM sees the ice well, anticipates well, and just needs a lot of NCAA ice time to learn the speed and size of this game. I have no doubts he will be a great asset. I hope to say the same about next year's recruit class but I have not seen any of them. BTW, once he suits up, you are going to like Gillespie also-but for many different reasons.

Interesting. They played against each other last season, but I wonder if they ever played together -- probably not.

ET certainly has speed as well as quickness. It will be good to see him next season. He also has a bit of a mean streak at times.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2014-15

The second period saw the Bulldogs start with a man-advantage after a Powell River penalty at the 20:00 mark of the first. They would connect on it on the rush as Nathan Warren left the puck behind the net for Kurt Gosselin, who put an outlet pass up the right wing for Evan Tironese. He would skate the puck through centre and over the Kings line up the left wing before faking a shot and then taking a shot from the left circle that he absolutely ripped bar-down, short-side high on Magnus to make it 1-0 Dogs 1:29 into the second.... http://hammersdogs.blogspot.com/2014/10/dogs-drop-second-in-row-4-3-to-kings.html
It seemed like a great play while I was listening to it on the net, but It was Hammer who was doing the call. :) When ever the BCHL teams are playing early or when I wake up in the middle of the night, I listen to the broadcast from the team which our recruit is on. (The opposing team's announcer usually doesn't pay attention to players on the other team.) ET did, from the calls, seem to be skating circles around Powell River.

It reminds me of being a little kid with my transistor radio under the blanket listening to the Mets on their west coast trips. I do enjoy listening to those late starting games from Western Canada. I’ve done a lot of home repairs while listening :)

The neighbors must like the noise in the middle of the night. :)

Just throwing this out there, Jake Marrello F from Alb. Acad., who visited RPI last season has transferred to the Gunnery. Eric Cavosi has left coaching @ AA to pursue other business oppurtunities.

Sorry to hear Eric left AA. He did a great job getting AA restored as a competitive squad.

On Wednesday, the Victoria Grizzlies defeated the Cowichan Valley Capitals 4-3. Meirs Moore had an assist (PPA) and a hooking penalty. http://www.bchl.ca/leagues/hockey_boxscores.cfm?clientID=1413&leagueID=2393&gameID=1358133&link=bchl

Moore's line is now 7-0-5-5-4.

Just for info, Meirs Moore was on the Victoria first power play unit. He also played some time on the penalty kill, as the announcer commented upon a clear he made. There were several comments of "nice play". (Also, I must remember it is pronounced Meers.)
