RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14

Hey Ralph,

I'm considering attending a Victoria Grizzlies game to see Alec Dillon play (and, for hockey, of course!). Victoria is only a couple hours from Seattle via passenger ferry. Is there any rhyme or reason that you've seen to Victoria's goalie start decisions? Should I try and visit during a back-to-back weekend to ensure Alec plays?

If all goes well, I might attempt a Vernon visit (Alberni would have been a bit easier), or perhaps try to double up if Vernon plays in Victoria in the playoffs.

I haven't noticed any rhyme or reason, but I haven't paid attention. Also the stats program which the BCHL uses does not appear to have a way of getting a player's game-by-game results which would make a pattern stand out. I would think that if you go to back-to-back games he is likely to play in one.

FWIW, I was once in Victoria for a conference and project review. I flew on a puddle jumper from Seattle to Victoria with an intermediate stop in Port Angeles.

Go when Vernon plays Victoria (if they do). Best of both worlds! That's what I've done for USHL games.

They don't the rest of the year with the possible exception of the playoffs, as RHamilton implied in his last sentence. :)

Just saw that Lou Nanne had committed to RPI. He certainly has the bloodline to be a difference maker.

More importantly  we have the same birthday.

Hopefully more than just the bloodline. :)

Off-topic Edit: As to birthdate, RPI should never recruit players with my birthdate, January 2. As far as I can recall, the only two are Mauro DiPaolo and Jason Fortino, neither of whom will make the Ring of Honor. (although DiPaolo's skates were used for the trophy that RPI and Union used to contest.)

When Jenny stood next to DiPaolo she barely reached his navel! He was one big boy. But the little time he spent on the ice for us, he played much smaller.
