RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

Exactly. That was why I didn't post it. IMHO, if Melanson isn't at RPI, he won't be in the USHL either.

Carve that one in granite if you like. If we were talking about temperature, there are 2 chances of that happening-zero and absolute zero.

As I said earlier, he could always get killed by a NJ mafia member. ;)

Anything down here is possible. He is a really good kid and i expect him to make a very nice addition to this team. Much will depend on his supportin gcast of course but I really think how he is used and how his talents can be utilized by our coaching staff will be absolutely key. If we are going to be a speed team-he will not be a detriment at all. I am certainly not a hockey coach so i have no clue how you incorporate his kind of quickness and fluidity on ice into the proper line. Always trying to be the optimist-i think we may have some real upside surprises and we all could certainly use a few good years coming up.

Ralph: Thanks for continuing the posting of the recruit list with all their stats. Nice to see our boys list with 7 names that have a height starting with a 6(even with one as a goalie). We have some talent and some ptential talent there-hoping we can make use of it for a very long season.

OTOH, 4 players are at 5'8".

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

Update on my opinion as to who will arrive in the fall.

Goalies:
Dillon is unlikely to arrive until 2015 unless Kasdorf leaves or doesn't recover. Give it a 15% chance.

Forwards:
Gillespie 99% chance he is coming. (He could get some fatal disease or ...)
Melanson 98% chance. (As opposed to Gillespie he has junior eligibility left.)
Nanne 95% chance. (He didn't have a great season in the USHL, but I suspect he is continuing to heal from his injuries.)
Tironese 75% chance. (He committed two years ago and has not yet shown up in the directory. Is he having some trouble getting through admissions? I don't know, but until he shows up there, it's 75 - 80 %. He will go up to the high 90's when he is in the directory.)
Liljegren 60% chance. (It was written that he was a 2014 or 2015, and he isn't in the directory yet.)
Rodriguez 30% chance. (The fact that he committed on the same day as Haggerty bailed out, I originally thought made him likely to come in 2014. Those odds are slowly decreasing.)
Fornaris 20% chance. (He needs more seasoning, but still could arrive in the fall. He was at Cedar Rapids' recent camp)
Burgess 5% chance. (Never said he would be here this fall, but he is old enough so could be a fall back if some of the above have troubles.)
Hayhurst <1% chance. (He is still an HS junior.)

Defensemen:
Wilson 99% chance. (Everything points to him arriving this fall.)
Prapavessis 75% chance. (WaP said it well. One couldn't ask for a better season than he had this year. He could improve if he goes to Lincoln and I suspect they are kicking themselves for not taking him a year ago. If he gets drafted by the NHL, we may have to take him to keep him from major junior, and I suspect he will be a regular on the blue line at the HFH as the season progresses. He would also become essentially a sure thing to be in Troy this fall of one of our returning dmen turns pro. He recently appeared in the RPI directory, although all the other dman recruits except Cho are there also.)
Moore 65% chance. (He didn't have a great year in the USHL and he was a first-round NAHL draft choice, but earlier he seemed to be a definite for this year.)
Bell 30% chance. (His injury set him back quite a bit, and he needs seasoning against better competition somewhere. He wasn't drafted by either a USHL or NAHL team.)
Manley 10% chance. (He could come but he needs another year to develop. The odds that he would be here this fall would also be higher if he were not #5 on this list.)
Cho <1% chance. (He is still an HS junior.)

Chicago Blackhawks held their own version of the NHL Combines this past weekend and it appears from what I’ve been able to put together, Alec Dillon was there. From HF Boards; Haven't heard any news on the prospects camp yet, but I do know the Hawks are holding their own combine this weekend. They invited what they deem as their top 50 draft-eligible prospects who weren't invited to the NHL's combine last week to come in for the weekend for fitness testing and some on-ice stuff.........From Dillon’s Twitter (clik on photo of his pads, he’s in Brandon Saab’s locker)....https://twitter.com/adilly96

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

Short article from the Victoria Grizzlies site.... Dillon will be one of the 10 goaltenders in the under-20 age category that will be candidates for Canada’s National Junior Team and the only goaltender in that category invited from outside of CHL.... http://www.victoriagrizzlies.com/leagues/newsletter.cfm?clientID=5363&leagueID=20506&page=80432

I think that an earlier article was posted about this some time ago. Anyway it certainly is an honor for him, but I doubt that they will select someone from outside the CHL.

....you may be right but the CHL might also be using the invite (not that he doesn’t deserve it) as an enticement for the Ed. Oil Kings.
