Alec Dillon (Victoria Grizzlies – BCHL) Playing in the BCHL, Alec Dillon has been very impressive in the 20 games (2.47 GAA, .918 Save Percentage) that he has played for the Victoria Grizzlies. Even though Dillon was ranked no. 26 in CSS’s midterm rankings, he is a tall (6’4.75″) and lanky netminder that NHL teams would absolutely covet. Despite the fact that Dillon has a frame to fill out, the upside for the young netminder cannot be mistaken by anyone. According to Robert Ward – a scout for the New York Islanders – Dillon has good hands and rebound control but could use a little bit of work on his lateral movements. Dillon will certainly have aspects of his game that he will have to fine tune over the next several years, but if the goalie continues his solid play with the Grizzlies for the remainder of the BCHL hockey season, then the big goaltender will likely be a very good darkhorse option for hockey fans to follow coming into draft day.

Jacob Hayhurst, C, RPI

Proving that College Hockey Inc. is doing its job, Hayhurst actually came on my radar last year when I saw him at one of the organization’s showcases. Small at 5-foot-7, Hayhurst is fast with great hands and has a defensive conscience. Eligible for the 2015 NHL draft, he is playing for one of the best teams in the Ontario Jr. A League this year, the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots and will head to Rensselaer in 2015-16.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

....yeah, then he could sit in the penalty box with Beef & Bo ;)

We're thinking alike. (Well actually what I was thinking is that since on paper he is the replacement for LeBoeuf, the latter could teach him something.)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

Based upon that, another year in the BCHL, or even if he can finagle himself into the USHL (although BCHL is no slouch when it comes to college talent), will help. Play in the ECAC for a goaltender is all about lateral movement. I don't know a team that doesn't get the puck working side to side to generate scoring opportunities. Of course, that's a good thing to do in any sport that involves continuous motion and not just set routes, especially when you consider zone defenses in the special teams.

Not giving up rebounds, which he apparently already can do, helps a lot also.

He already has that, according to your quotation of the article. Obviously that's going to help, but lateral movement greatly helps in terms of the first shot, especially in the ECAC. Come to think of it, it's why we always try the reversal pass when in the zone in order to catch the weak side, despite the fact that everyone knows we do it, but that argument is something to save for the main thread.

There are undoubtedly missing assists in Tomlinson's stats.

By all means, take it to the Main Thread where all drivel belongs.
