RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

2014 UNH Recruit Warren Foegele is teammates with Austin Cho at St. Andrews College (just outside of Toronto).

http://unhhockeyblog.blogspot.com/2014/01/nhl-prospect-warren-foegele-coming-to.html

This season, the Saints have been impressive against prep schools from New England, the Midwest, and Canada.

I noticed that when I went to Heisenberg's site. I assume that you don't know anything about Cho besides for his being a teammate of Foegele.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

That was the same conclusion that I came to. See the end of post #529. http://board.uscho.com/showthread.p...14-(Part-II)&p=5885228&viewfull=1#post5885228

It's exciting. I mean, we do have 3 recruits who are probably going to be coming under pressure from CHL teams, but with that, Bell turning up at the SLU game, and Dillon seeming to be the least likely of the three to bounce, starting to feel a lot better about it all.

If I'm Appert, I gotta point to Nick Quinn's career (or lack thereof) after he decided to peace out for the O as a cautionary tale.

I think that turk commented that Bell might be negatively affected by seeing our performance against SLU. OTOH the crowds this weekend were a plus.

An excellent point about Quinn,

When I saw St. Andrew's play at the St. Sebastian's Holiday Tournament, I was focused on Foegele and don't remember much about Cho. Here's a clip of a power play in which Cho (#19 in white jersey) plays the top of the umbrella at the blue line (it isn't much but you can see him distributing the puck):

Interesting. I wish that RPI could control a power play that well :( although it all seemed to be in slow motion.

BTW, a Harvard recruit, Adam Sinclair, also plays for SAC. He isn't on that PP unit (#14).

I have noticed Sinclair when I've watched St. Andrew's play. He's a below average sized center (5'5", 147 lbs.) who can really fly. A very good playmaker at the prep school level.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

I assume that you noticed that his Twitter page says 2016. I am going with that just as Red Cloud pointed out about Hayhurst.
USHR is also going with 2016 (of course, they could just be repeating what they've seen elsewhere)......... USHR ‏@USHRhockey 3h
St. Andrew's juniors Austin Cho, a 6'0" LD, and Justin Fregona, a 5'6" RW, have committed to, respectively, RPI ('16) and UNH ('15 or '16). https://twitter.com/USHRhockey

I think that we can never be completely sure when a recruit will show up these days. Anything is a best guest. WaP did an analysis of who will show up when in their recruit article a month ago which is as good as any. 2016 means that if he stays at SAC for his senior year, he will still have a year to go elsewhere before going to Troy.

The OJHL All Star Team http://ojhl.pointstreaksites.com/view/ojhl/news-21/news_136482. The previous one was the All Prospects Team. Michael Prapavessis was named to the first team.

Toronto Lakeshore Patriots defenceman Michael Prapavessis becomes the first player since Luke Juha of the Burlington Cougars in 2010-11 to be named both 1st Team All-Prospect and 1st Team All-Star in the same season. The second year Oakville, Ontario native led all OJHL defencemen with 49 assists, also tied for second best in the entire OJHL, and 54 points. The second leading scorer on his club, Prapavessis helped the Patriots capture the first regular season Division title in franchise history, also earning the number one seed in the South-West Conference standings. Anchoring the league’s second best power play unit, the 6’1”, 180 lbs. blueliner notched 25 power play assists, second highest among all players. A member of Team Canada East at the 2013 World Junior ‘A’ Challenge, Prapavessis would also lead all OJHL defencemen in scoring with four points while helping the South-West Conference All-Stars finish as runner-up at the Central Canada Cup. Ranked 137th overall among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s Mid-Term rankings for the 2014 NHL Draft, he is committed to join RPI next season.

This says that he is showing up in Troy in the fall.

Woof. This is getting to be enough to make one's head spin. Wilson and Prapavessis and Bell and Moore and Manley... almost dartboard time.

On pure readiness and CHL concerns, the first three seem like the most likely, but who knows what's been promised? The latter two have been aimed on 2014 since the get, AFAWK.

At least we know that Cho isn't showing up since he is a HS junior. Unless we are losing someone, it is hard to believe that more than three will show up. Even three would mean that we will have to sit three d-men for each game.

But you know all of that also. :)
