Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

Great news indeed. Hopefully Heisenberg will confirm soon. Played with Melanson this summer.
Parker Reno 6-1 (185) 1/20/95 R Edina, Minn. Edina (Minn.) High School

From Lincoln Stars blog:
Parker Reno - Defenseman - '95 - 6'1", 195 pounds - 2011 USHL Futures Draft Pick
2011-12 stats: Parker is a junior on the Edina (MN) Hornets high school hockey team where he has scored 3 points (all assists) to go with 14 PIM's in 8 games played. Like Vinni Lettieri, Reno is a player that a lot of scouts are looking at and he is considered one of the top defenseman in the state as a junior. Reno spent most of his sophomore season out of the lineup due to a knee injury, be he has since fully recovered. David participated in the Stars' tryout camp this past June where he was selected to one of the two camp all-star games.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

He tried put for Lincoln (USHL). We almost had three players there. http://www.westerncollegehockeyblog.com/2012/6/14/3079629/lincoln-stars-tryout-camp

Parker Reno-Had a really strong camp. He's definitely heading back to Edina for his senior season, and should be one of the top remaining seniors in the state. I think he's got huge upside, and has a great shot at being an NHL draft pick next year.

That's nice. :)

He is indeed listed as a B in the prelims http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=83207.

I am new to the forum, but am a Cedar Rapids Roughrider Season ticket holder. Riley Bourbannais is a very smart hockey player with a great ability to be in the right place at the right time. He shows great ice vision and is a good TWF. Should be a good addition to RPI next year.

Reno is a smooth skater that makes flawless transitions. He does not have overwhelming top-end speed but has a quick first step and great anticipation of the play in front of him. Reno keeps his game neat and simple by gaining zones, limiting turnovers, and demonstrating good puck control. Reno likes to get dirty by playing in the corners, blocking shots, and manning up in front of the net. Does a good job taking his opponent out of the play by finishing his checks.

After playing varsity his freshman year Reno was sidelined all of last season due to a leg injury. Look for Reno to have a major impact this season and establish himself as one of the top defenders in the state.

He missed the season two years ago. This is a year old.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

Hmmm.... a D player. Possible Bailen replacement? (assuming he comes directly from HS, obviously Zach S did quite recently)

I will wait for CH to post it, but I suspect that being a CSB B player (even if he is listed there as a center), he's probably for next year.

Welcome to the boards! :) I think many of us are looking forward to RB. Granted we haven't heard from PKBomber as of late (Youngstown fan), but it's always great to see some USHL insight. :)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

Some more on Reno per USHR:

Parker Reno, D, 1/20/95 (Edina) 6-1/190 — Top defenseman who is solid in all areas. The senior is big, strong, skates well and is developing the offensive side of his game —he’s an all-around defenseman. Is steadily rising up scouting charts. Played on Team USA this summer at the Ivan Hlinka tournament. Has an excellent chance of being drafted into the NHL in June. Uncommitted.

USHR Ranked him the 12th best defender at the Select 17 camp - Parker Reno (#2 Gold) 6-2/195—Big Edina HS defender does everything well. Quietly goes about his business and is rarely caught out of position or makes a bad decision with the puck. Named to the US U18 Select team. Uncommitted

Thanks for posting that. Because of Parker Reno (hopefully not related to Janet), I missed:

Thanks for the post. Do you know why he missed Saturday's game?

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

Polacek and Commers are both from Edina although neither played for Edina HS. I guess SA likes cake eaters. ;)

Edit: Thanks bothman

I believe he was a healthy scratch but I will look into it. Riley is usually good about responding on Twitter!

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

If you look closely within the link; he literally does! :p:D

He considers himself to be of the shut-down type. Perhaps not a Bailen replacement.

I did notice the cake reference. :)

It is of course not certain that he is coming next season. He could be a LeBoeuf replacement, and he may take Bailen's spot next season but play a different role.

Glad to have you join us here. just ignore all the sarcastic stuff-for the most part this is a truly great group. We just get a tad frustrated when we lose more than we should. Just make sure whatever stats you post are absolutely correct-or else about 7 different people will correct them within a few minutes.;)
