It is very possible. Alot of college coaches were in attendance. With Carlos scheduled as a '14 I can imagine SA would want a year of USHL under his belt. When I said competition is going to be tough, it is because we have a Wisconsin, UNH, and UML guys viaing for a F spot as well. Should definitely get interesting at the July camp.

Hmm. That makes the forward situation kinda dicey with Commers leaving if Melanson doesn't come until 2014 (which had previously been a possibility, the only reason we expected him this year was the LOI). Sounds like DeVito is in, but the only other forwards we have right now aren't ready - Tironese and Fornaris.
Not that I mind Melanson getting another year of seasoning, mind you, it's more that it would be nice to have a bit of padding when it comes to injuries to forwards. Without Melanson we're at 15, which is kinda thin (especially with the injury rate we've had for forwards lately). And that assumes DeVito, who has had his own rumors.
Might need to be on the lookout for a late, non-scholarship signing to replace Commers if this goes down - someone who would be a pretty much confirmed #16 on the depth chart.
Also, if this is true, recruiting is pretty much complete for 2014, although there could be one more forward if Appert is looking to get back to 17 eventually. Was that an anomaly to begin with?

I do think that DeVito is indeed coming. On this twitter page at the top, he is already using the word "playing".
My concern about Melanson is not that he is waiting a year, since I think that he could use it, but that he won't come at all. As opposed to our other recruits, there is no indication of RPI on the top of his twitter page. This, of course, could be me being overly concerned.
Until the 2012-13 season, 15 was the norm. There does seem to be an increase in injuries, or more exactly, an increase in being careful with injuries, so it makes sense to have 16 or even 17. My gut feeling is that we will stay with 15, although your scenario, get a non-scholarship player to be #16. I do wonder if we can get a useful one at this time.
