RPI @ Princeton, Saturday, 12/10/22

Jen and I were in Princeton and saw most of this. Odd game for sure. There were times that we played well and actually controlled play followed by long stretches where it was all Princeton and it seemed we should not even be out there against them! Missed some parts of the game but overall, we were not a good defensive effort at all. Ice quality was terrible and we lost edges and fell all over the place but simply stated, they were the faster team. The 5 minute penalty on Klee was borderline at best and with 4 officials on the ice, went totally unseen and uncalled. I do not really like when a coach can effectively call a penalty when no one else saw it. But if that was a penalty, certainly the hit from behind by Princeton late in the third period deserved a call also (even if it was a simple 2 minute minor). The final score 6-5 did not represent this game at all. We were not the better team by any means and we did not play well enough to earn a win.

Thank you for that report Doc. The last sentence sums things up pretty well. That's been the case in many of our wins this year in my humble opinion, against the LIU's, UVM's and Dartmouths of the world. I guess if I remember clearly, Union dominated us for the 3rd period of the Friday night game. But honestly is it a surprise? We lost quite a few players to the transfer portal who had strong offensive capabilities in addition to Kjellberg on the back end. Hoping for a second half turnaround.
