Re: RPI @ Princeton 1/1015
Just home for a short time-heading back out to an emergency call. Quick summary and may elaborate tomorrow. The absolute worst officiating crew ever seen tonight. Special award to Baker for displacing Mike Noeth on Jenny's list of all time worst refs. They finally gave us one power play but with about 28 seconds left in the game. They allowed anything and everything from the home team-interference, holding, high sticking, etc. When DeVito retaliated even slightly for a high stick to his face up against the boards, he was immediately called. Our penalties were deserved for the most part-but Princeton could have and should have been called for as many if not more.
The linesmen missed several clear cut offsides and had a very peculiar idea of when icing should be called. I am not sure which linesman it was, but his ability to drop the puck was severely impaired and we got thrown out of the faceoff so many times i lost count.
The game itself, we played fairly well(but again lost far too many important face offs). Kasdorf made some saves that kept us in the lead early as we had our usual number of defensive lapses. Princeton had a strong forecheck going with 3 men in most times and created lots of turnovers and some very decent chances but Kasdorf was sharp especially early. All our lines moved well and we had far more opportunities that did not show up on the score sheet. Princeton goalie made a save with his toe against the MNS line that was just incredible. Not sure if anyone got hurt for us as we did not see #25 on the ice for the last 2 shifts for his line.
Got to sit and talk with the boys who were in the stands sitting this one out. What fine young men we have in this program. Fulton and Gillespie are just great as well as all the others we got to talk with.
Special time tonight as we got to meet and sit with several RPI old time fans. Got to get back in touch with some long time friends. And Babo? What can we say, one of the finest to ever have anything to do with the RPI program. We love you and missed seeing you. And lastly-nice to get 5 goals, nice to win, nice to hold a team to 2 goals, and just great to get a chance to feel RPI hockey in our blood again.
