RPI Offseason Thread: 7 Months of Drivel

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: 7 Months of Drivel

Please Fridg never had the bullets Shirley gave Appert. Why did Pirri and JDA leave? They had no faith in Appert. Monty leaves they leave! You think that if Ryan thought that RPI could make a run next year he would have left. I am sure he is looking forward to to getting the sh@& kicked out of him in the AHL next year. Another year of ECAC hockey or a 30 year old pounding you head into the glass? Mike Zale leaving is just as disturbing or more.
The players think Seth is a d....bottle. They may be right.

What players? Is it 1 or 2, or the entire roster? Who have you spoken to that expressed that view? First time I have heard that from anyone.
Haggerty left because of the NHL rules involving his age, length of contract, etc. He is getting paid to practice with the big club for 2 months and gain an advantage over rookies coming into pre-season camp this summer. All those factors considered; he had to sign. Zalewski was more of a surprise. However, he ended up playing 2 NHL games and scoring his first point, and he also gets the benefit of more than a month of practice with the big club.

I don't know why JDA and Pirri left, other than for a bunch of cash and the promise of playing in the NHL; and have. Pirri seems to be on the verge of making an NHL team next season. I'm also a Fridg fan. You are right in that he did not have a lot of the backing that Appert has now. It would've been interesting to see how he performed with the extra "bullets." I think that maybe he was not quite Dr. Jackson's idea of what RPI's second most visible employee should be.

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: 7 Months of Drivel

It says, "Friday, April 26". Friday is the 25th. So, is it Fri. or Sat.? I emailed that question yesterday but haven't received an answer yet.
received confirmation from Peter Pedone, it is Sat. the 26th.

Wow....really???? She might have been jealous because he was the most visible employee!! Besides, he didn't use the same jell Shirley uses like SA does. :)

WS, take him up on it! I enjoyed the banquet last year with Aspy and troyboy. Good company, good food, our players, parents, staff and some families. Nice night. I have a little fundraiser for our parish school that night so I can't be there but I am looking forward to coming again soon.

Hopefully that goes well. The system in the North Country declined quite a bit, and it's sad to see because, in the 90's, they were very marketable when it came to an alternative to public school education, especially now that Common Core is a thing.

I promised not to post but I can't help myself. Really..really. I'm not ragging on the previous coach but you don't think that was a dark period. Here's a few for you to ponder. NCAA berth, RPI players playing significant time in the NHL (Pirri and JDA), better recruits coming in, upgrades to HFH. Shirley actually interested in the program where she would put capital investment into it. I am an apologist for MGC but you guys are getting on my nerves. You and others need to realize that while things are not perfect, they are better. This whole thread has turned into a cluster fark (excuse me RB, I honor what you do).

Things are better....? I noticed you didn't mention winning, you know like a regular season or ECAC championship. The players you mentioned left two plus years early... Check this out from last month....

Since RPI last showed up in an ECAC final four, other teams have appeared at a final four:

Cornell 8
Colgate 6
Dartmouth 6
Harvard 6
Brown 3
SLU 3
Union 3
Yale 3
Princeton 2
Quinnipiac 2
Clarkson 2
Vermont 1

Since Seth's arrival, RPI is the only team to NOT make a final four appearance - in that span other ECAC teams have appeared:

Cornell 5
Colgate 3
Dartmouth 3
SLU 3
Union 3
Yale 3
Brown 2
Harvard 2
Princeton 2
Quinnipiac 2
Clarkson 1

Thoughts?

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: 7 Months of Drivel

There is a possibility this year that we will have zero non-conference games at home in October. IceBreaker and Denver are known, obviously the UPEI exhibition, and Union at home on Halloween. The only way we will get home games is if either BU is in October (possible, given we did play them on Parents' Weekend in 2006), or the Bentley series is that weekend. If we play Michigan that weekend, no home game for what I would assume to be Parents' Weekend. UCONN/UNH in the same weekend, I will stand by this, is highly unlikely.
