RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

One theory I have is that the original schedule for the TUC game is in the middle of the black week that the NCAA sets to be a break in the season (hockey has two season halves; you're only allowed 26 weeks of practice/games). Therefore, they had to move it. I'd have to assume that neither RPI nor Union had a common weekend to put the game, so they had to cut a deal with another travel partner to make room, and that just happened to be Harvard/Dartmouth.
That was my thought also. The break was too short.

Actually, a little note on the black week: Alaska schools are not required to follow the rule regarding the first day of games/practices, however if they start early, they must take a comparable number of weeks off during the mid-season break, which is why you won't see them play games during what is generally the New Years weekend (this year, Dec. 29th/30th).

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

If our now annual tailgate happens on a saturday this season, I might be able to bring a fully functioning hot dog cart....it is decorated in NY Mets gear right now but I can probably remove most of it and put RPI gear on it. :)

Denver weekend looks good hockey - christmas around the corner - hockey - tailgate - hockey

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

Today is 24 May 2013. There are 134 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 5 October 2013 for the start of next season.

Where are the padded VIP seats located? Are they replacing the seats near center ice (and potentially displacing some long time season ticket holders that cannot afford $500 per seat pricing) or is this a way to finally make money off the empties in Shirley's palace?

SAJ giving up the throne?! That's funny.

Something tells me that the student section may be part of this (22, 33, 44). They've already put plastic child seats in the front row of 22 for birthday parties. Not to mention, Norris and company don't want to constantly have to put the mall cops at the tunnel for when Murphy shows u- er the refs make questionable calls.

Because, you know, it's too much to ask that college students act like civilized human beings for a few hours.

My guess is that it is indeed the glass area above the main entrance, which has been un/underutilized since it was built...Sashi's gonna monetize the he l l out of it, now that she's got access. :D

I would think so also. It's hard to picture someone coming around and taking coats and returning them at center ice. But ...

Where is such a "black week" defined?

26 weeks of practice/games is set by "25 full weekends" before the National Championship, which sets the start date of the season at October 5, 2013.

I still stand by my Beanpot suggestion - Harvard's returning the favor to RPI for the times that Harvard has asked RPI to reschedule due to the Beanpot.

BU just released their schedule. The Beanpot games are February 3rd and 10th. The suggestion does not hold.

Plus, if it were because of the Beanpot, why would Dartmouth also re-schedule? They usually don't.

Re-read what I said:

RPI and Union could have picked another weekend and tried to ask another set of travel partners to reschedule for the game at the TUC. Harvard has asked to reschedule due to the Beanpot how many times? They're doing us the favor by being the ones to reschedule this time around.
