RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

The Blackhawks provide an intriguing template for our team: they have some big strong guys to bang in the corners and to create traffic in front of the net, and at the same time they frequently beat the other teams' trap with their speed and team play.

The goalies are somewhat similar as well. Both are big kids and play similar styles. But, who is our Captain Serious this season?

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

This is why I love the off season. We get to compare our hockey team to the current Stanley Cup Champions. Wow

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

Schedule of events on that day:
10AM - lose a bunch of Starcraft II games
3PM - watch some Youtube videos
6PM - Make a bunch of posts on USCHO to the effect of "You're a dope"
7PM - Post the first game reset on the score thread
7:02PM - Post "You're a dope" after posters whine and moan about my game resets

Football game at noon too although I doubt that I will go.

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

Although it is about a recruit it pertains to next season, so I will post it here. Jimmy DeVito's twitter page under his name states now "RPI hockey #20", so I assume that is the number he will have next season.

I need to know this in 79 days. ;)

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

Watch us find out next week that one of the kids picked #98. :p
DeVito taking 20 was an obvious choice since he wore it last year.

Bourbonnais wore 23 on his first two teams and then 14 in Lincoln, and 14 is available. Reno wore 5 which isn't available, and Wood wore 26 which isn't available either at RPI. Wood wore 11 and 23 two years ago, and neither is available. Soffer wore 1 last year which is available.

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

That was a good read on 60/70's ecac hockey, the background on Canadian players in college hockey (with out shout out to RPI/Ned Harkness), and in particular, the BU/Leon Abbott/Jack Parker story. I saw that RPI Christmas Tournament 8-2 win over BU that year... which turned out to be Parker's first loss as coach of BU. Don Cutts was in goal... that was one of the first games I saw as a freshman.

I wonder if any of our other long-time posters were at that game?
