Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part II: (Insert Title Here)

Today is 17 July 2012. There are 81 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is supposedly scheduled.

Congrats to Ort. You'd be hard pressed to find someone more passionate about his profession than he...we should all be so lucky! I ran into him recently with one of his daughters, he mentioned somhis retirement and that he was going to work part time at Siena in some capacity. Best of luck!

Since they have their applications and deposits in, I think it's safe for us to welcome their presence to this thread. The Class of 2016, along with analysis on the returning players: http://www.withoutapeer.com/2012/07/your-2012-13-rpi-engineers.html

Thanks to withoutapeer for the assessment. Can't wait to see this team in action.
With less hype and expectations, this team could surprise a lot of people. Defense wins championships, and this team has a very good defensive core.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part II: (Insert Title Here)

Now that our recruit class has been announced, the next thing is the roster. These are the recruits along with their numbers from last year:

6 Craig Bokenfohr
3 Chris Bradley
12 Miloš Bubela
21 Andrew Commers
21 Travis Fulton
6 Phil Hampton
26 Mark Miller
15 Mike Zalewski
33 Jason Kasdorf

Unless a returning player changes their number, the only ones who can get their number from last year are Kasdorf, Miller, and either Bokenfohr or Hampton. Anyone want to guess the numbers that the recruits will wear?

I'll try to narrow it down a bit for Bubela.

He can't have # 12 because somebody else already has it.

He's from Slovakia, not the Czech Republic, so he probably doesn't want to emulate Jaromir Jagr and take # 68.

And he's not a goalie, so he probably won't want # 0, even though nobody at RPI has worn it since Don Cutts.

That only leaves 97 other choices for him to pick from. :)

We don't seem to have too many high numbers, so we might be able to factor those out. Granted Haggs grabbed 39, so anything's possible.

Possibly either Bubela or Zalewski takes 16?

It wasn't retired in honor of Brandon Pirri? ;)
