Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

I guess that a new question is just what does being in the RPI directory mean since Zalewski and Bradley are listed.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

I guess that a new question is just what does being in the RPI directory mean since Zalewski and Bradley are listed.
Just throwing this out there, is it possible that since both of them are semi-local being from NY that they are taking some classes early at some point to get a head start on the freshmen course load? I dont even know if they are able to do something like that.

That would be very unusual at RPI, which simply does not have the infrastructure for this sort of thing. But, Appert is certainly creative and it is something that major D1 football programs do all the time.

By the way, great work by Eddy W. getting the article and interviews. Great info in there, and good initiative to be on this before the official RPI release comes out!

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

I echo the sentiments of my colleague DrD. Congrats to the staff and especially our great Coach on a great incoming class. If there were thought balloons over SA’s head, I would imagine that they would be “Why does Ed read that USCHO board all the time?”, “ I wonder if this interview will finally satisfy Ralph that Jacob is coming”, “Who would review the student directory to see if a player is registered… oh right Ralph?”, “Why doesn’t Ed get a tripod for that camera”.

Again congrats to Coach and the staff.

For your viewing and reading pleasure: http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/2011/06/10/sports/doc4df1a14d43e0d329631983.txt Everybody can come off the ledge now.

Kudos to Ed Weaver for a terrific article on the frosh. I liked what Seth had to say about Laliberte and the others coming in. It is obvious that he thinks this is a special group of players.

Nice setting for the interview too. New office, overlooking the rink.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

Also noticed at the end of the article it mentioned 17 returning players, if I counted the roster right we should have 18. Is it October yet... :D
Conceivably Coupal isn't returning, and we'll have a different practice goalie. Also, perhaps EW didn't count correctly.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

One thing for sure, our coach can sure charm you with his speech. After watching those 2 clips, how can anyone not be anxious for the season to start right now? This may well be our best recruiting class in 25+ years. I have been talking about JL and Neal(the Real Deal) for a long time and cannot wait to see them on the ice in Troy. I strongly suspect we are in for several special years coming up. I have not felt this way since the early 80's. With this group of offensive forwards and big tough defensmen-we are going to present all sorts of problems for the rest of the ECAC. October cannot come fast enough for me.:D

Doc, I am totally excited about Appert's comments on the incoming defensemen.
We have plenty of offense, but it is defense that wins championships.
I like stay at home defensemen who can clear the crease and make a good first pass out of the zone.
If we get that, I see greatness in our future.

Nice setting for the interview too. New office, overlooking the rink.
It looked like a perfect setting for a Hockey East team...just saying !

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

Doc, I am totally excited about Appert's comments on the incoming defensemen.
We have plenty of offense, but it is defense that wins championships.
I like stay at home defensemen who can clear the crease and make a good first pass out of the zone.
If we get that, I see greatness in our future.

Hopefully you and i and Jenny will be in Princeton again this coming year and watching the first steps of this team becoming the Beast of the East. From where i sit-it is only a matter of time now. This is going to be a lot of fun.:)

Not sure if I'll drive out to Troy every home weekend, but this year, a trip to the north and very slightly east will be in order. Not to mention RIT, and the usual two I attend.

Not coming to Troy every home weekend? What happened your friends graduated and moved away so you got no place to crash? Im sure RC and AspyDad would put you up haha.... If its the gas issue, buy a hybrid :)

My friends are still in the area. Gas is expensive, but I am NOT getting a vehicle that wouldn't be able to even get me to Speculator... V6 is a minimum must.
