Comment to an article from last month http://voices.washingtonpost.com/capitalsinsider/ovechkin-on-wc-its-going-to-be.html
Jarred and Matt Tinordi went to and played hockey for Severna Park High School in Anne Arundel County. Matt was of average height but Jarred as a freshman was already like 6'2" but he weighed about 160lbs. He has been in the NDP for a few years and I have seen him play at the Southeast Development Festival Camp on a couple of occasions when my son qualified. My son is a 1990 and Jarred is a 1992 so they were not competing because they are divided into birth years at the festival. Honestly, if he was not Mark Tinordi's son I don't think he would have even gotten his shot to get out of MD. He played for the Junior Nationals here in MD and his pop was the coach. My guess would be is that Jarred will never play in an NHL game if he is lucky enough to get drafted. Back to Matt, Jarred's older brother, now that kid is a forward and has unbelievable hands. He was a top scorer in the league when he played for the Junior Nationals. If all goes as planned he will be at RPI in the fall.
I don't think that he is correct about Jarred, but I wouldn't mind if he is correct about Matt. :)

Will anyone on here be attending Friday's banquet? I probably will not make the trek for it.

Matt kept improving as time went on-I think we are going to be very pleasantly surprised. I also think that coach Appert saw this early and if this does work out well should be given the credit for seeing the talent early.

Some posters on the OSU coaching thread are stating that DU's George Gwozdecky has interviewed for the Buckeyes job...interesting to say the least. If Gwoz goes, should we be worried about Seth applying to DU ? Plenty of if's, but we need to pile up some posts...:D

Not knowing the situation, I would ask why George would leave a hockey powerhouse with a long reputation as one to coach OSU. If this were football, I could understand it, but unless Gwoz is an OSU alum, I can see no reason why he would be interested. JMO

Gwoz is a Wisconsin alum. His closest connection to the Buckeyes is that he was the head coach at Miami for 5 years. There is absolutely no reason for him to leave DU. So, I don't expect Appert to be the second coach that we've had bail ship this off-season.

Today is 20 April 2010. There are 171 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

Yes, but only on the Ontario page, not on the RPI list. Probably a mistake.

Well, in one place it must be a mistake. :D
Do you know when RPI usually releases the list of new recruits with the coaches comments on each player?

I don't know if you all have had this discussion but do we all agree that Brutlag needs to stay at Forward? Good strength to win individual battles in the corner and goes to the net. Watching RPI the last several years I have had some concerns that they don't go to the front of the net enough. Brut is tough and will help in this area. Rotate him at the point on the power play because he walks the blue line very well. Here's a good power play combo -- Jerry, Pirri, Bruts , Chase and ???? What say you Uncle Ralph? Who should be the fifth on the PP? Also, I will be attending the banquet. You can recognize me because I will be the one asking SA if he thinks he can close the deal on Laliberte:D Hope this finds you all well.

JL first: Seth has a ride waiting for JL -- if he can complete the tasks necessary for him to matriculate...the rest is up to JL.

As for Brutlag, I totally agree. Brut and Malchuk were probably our two best "corner rats" down the stretch last season. They both have the stubborn determination to win corner battles. Same is true of Rabbani and Lee -- but both were banged up for parts of the year.

We've also discussed the help that Greg Burgdoerfer may well bring in the "widebody in front of the net" category. He's a physical forward with a Cornell build and he's got a year of D1 under his belt along with a year of RPI practices and weightlifting. If he plays with anything near the grit his brother had, he will be a very good physical addition to our forward corps...

Newspaper article about Curadi leaving Penticton http://www.bclocalnews.com/okanagan_similkameen/pentictonwesternnews/sports/90992159.html. Nothing really new.

Obviously things changed for Luke when Monty went to Dubuque and he was presented with the chance to further develop in what for my money, is the best junior hockey league (for college bound kids) in N.A. Luke will be tested at an even higher level next season and that will benefit him a lot. I for one look forward to seeing Luke progress on his way to HFH !
