Last night Jen had the prime rib (rare) and I had the lobster. Oh, you mean the hockey banquet.:o

trying to figure out how to ask you about your progress in recovery from ocular surgery and work in a reference to rib-eye but I can't quite get it to gel.

The right eye which was the more complicated originally did fine-but has to be reevaluated as some sort of opacity has now developed 3 months later-I suspect a posterior cataract or vitreous liquid problem which should be remedied. The left eye is a totally other story-developed Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS) during surgery and had to reconstruct the support for the lens. I expected this to be a major problem as they have to correct for the collapse inward of the iris by over filling th eye thus creating temporary glaucoma. But that has totally resolved and is fine. Monday I go back to see what can now be done for the original right eye problem but hopeful it will just involve a little laser surgery. Thanks for the inquiry-in dermatology/cosmetic surgery my eyes are my entire life-if I cannot see it i cannot diagnose it and I certainly cannot operate on it. This entire sequence has made the last 3-4 months a bit challenging but we both have been through a lot worse medically. I can understand, however, how this all can be quite frightful for those not medically trained.

Back to RPI hockey-does anyone think we will NOT be an improved team next year? Hard to replace a Nick Bailen-but from here it seems like we should be improved in almost all other aspects.

We certainly should be.

.....upon further review....it was tipped in by Luke Adams :o but he does have 2a so far :)

Adam. No S. ;) Not a Sabres fan, I assume? ;)

Oh, I now see why it was changed to an assist... look who the linesmen are...

Today is 21 April 2013. There are 167 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 5 October 2013 for the start of next season.

Wow, that was short. So not just far more leeway, also far less punishing.

One area in which I'm hoping to see continued improvement is in team play: having a co-ordinated group applying an overall strategy instead of a collection of individuals trying to make plays. It appeared to me that we made significant progress from '11-'12 to '12-'13 and if we can make even more progress in this area we could be a real force in '13-'14.

Dana McGuane could help: don't put nameplates on the back. :p:D (yes, another indirect channeling of Brooks)

The nail has been hit on the head. One thing that will certainly help is cohesion between groups of two or three players. From what I could see, Diesel and Bubs are practically inseparable, as their sense of each other on the ice is just amazing. We're starting to see it between Lally and Haggs as well. I just hope that, next year, we can continue to score by committee. That's what seemed to help us the most.

One of the big key areas will be defensive support of each other. As the year progressed we seemed to get so much better at communication between goaltender and defensemen and defensemen with each other. The lapses which were more obvious early in the season became far less. We really did seem to play so much more like a team instead of a group of individuals. I would just like to see our special teams play continue to improve to the point that other teams have to fear us when we have the extra man.

And when we have two extra men. :)

And when we have two extra men. :)

I would institute a rule that we should never have 2 extra men. We have been miserable 5 on 3. Also at the latter stages of games when we are forced to pull the goaltender for an extra attacker-that part of our game needs work. Hopefully next year we will not be in that position often if at all.

...as I posted in the Alumni Thread, it may not be a lock that Nicky remains on the Roch. roster for the playoffs. With Buffalo's season coming to an end that same weekend it's likely they'll be sending a few players down....most notably 3 D-men; Mark Pysyk, Adam Pardy & Chad Ruhwedel.
